If i stripped the plastic off the 3.5mm end of this cable would there be two cables there for me to plug into a speaker?

 

Basically i've got speakers that are linked together like this. So yellow phono in one speaker and the other end of the cable spilt into those clippy speaker sockets...lol!

Yes, in theory that should work. Although you might find the wires inside a little on the thin side.

 

Better option would be some proper speaker cable and solder on a new phono plug - if you're into that sort of thing.

It should work but you will probably find the cable is shielded type so one wire will be on the outside and one on the inside. The wires will be very thin and probably won't last very well plugged into clippy type speaker terminals.

You would be far better taking a trip to Maplins and getting just what you need rather than trying to cobble something together like that.

Yup it'll work if you wanted to do it more permanently then some better cable and a phono plug would be the best but what you've suggested will certainly get you working MacGyver style

Yes it will work, s demonstrated by whichever company installed AV in classrooms before I got here. I don't think they'd heard of speaker cable. Have had plenty snap because the wire is so thin, and teacher wonders why the sound has gone off

I'm scratching my head how you've got this wired up. Typically you can either have powered speakers which are linked using a single phono cable and then a twin phono (red and white) for left and right channels (from the one speaker) into a 3.5 jack > into a PC.

 

Or an amplifier which the speakers are plugged into with speaker cable, then from the amp to a twin phono into a 3.5 jack > into a PC.

yes it would work but u have to seperate the cables carefully and dont get the 2 cables mixed with each other

Have managed to get this to work in the past although more often than not I've found it causes poor audio qulity and I just end up buying the right cables.

Believe me, i was scratching my head too... I was expecting single photo to twin...nope. Powered speaker has phono port for speaker out. But the "slave" speaker only has the clippy bit on the bottom. Sahara speakers...
