fairm010 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 What password reset tools do you use? Ie Live CD's to change or show local user passwords. My one seems to have stopped working! (Probably sue to the fact its from 2009 and im trying to recover passswords from W7/ W8) Matt
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I use the Offline NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 Password Changer which is part of the Hiren's BootCD. If I have any trouble, I turn to the locksmith tool which is part of DART 1
hardtailstar Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Beat the users over the head with a rusty floppy drive to remember the password.....
fairm010 Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Beat the users over the head with a rusty floppy drive to remember the password..... Oh if only.. But its the head! Whats a f.. fl.. floppy drive? Matt
fairm010 Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Is Hirens Boot CD free? Or the other tool you mentioned? Matt
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Hirens is free DART comes as part of the MDOP (through Systems Assurance on VL, and possibly through TechNet).
toothy Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I've always had good luck with active password changer, used to come with hirens but not sure if its still on there anymore..
LeMarchand Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Hirens is free, but you may have to download it at home as it used to be a warez disk and so many filters won't let it through. DaRT is also free. IIRC you're supposed to create your own disk though I'm pretty sure that you can find pre-compiled ones available if you want to risk it.
fairm010 Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 I'll download Hirens when I get home, thanks guys!
Arthur Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 DaRT is also free. It's free is you pay for MDOP.
fairm010 Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Just used Hirens... Very impressed. Does so much more than password changes! Ill be keeping this one! Matt
