No, it shows as a realtek LAN device, it shows exactly as it does on the other units but this fails to see the connection.

Just tried the new chipset driver and still the same, its probably also worth letting you know i have imaged it again just in-case but its no better.

Hi everyone, I have just imaged a laptop via PXE with a working imaged (that i have used on computers since ) and it installs fine but will not allow me to connect to LAN, it does not even detect LAN in windows. I have installed the latest driver and tried different cables but it its still the same, it will boot back into PXE so i know the port works. Any ideas to get LAN working within windows?

you don't have to use an "active Wallpaper" if you don't want, its up to the end user, giving people choice. and "icons" are used on pretty much every mobile OS therefore its as up-to date as the next. even looking at ubuntu's mobile OS it uses "icons". I cant comment on poor hardware because as i have said mine has been excellent. [EDIT] ive also found a mix with apps, there are more and more new releases that seem more expensive than IOS which is an annoyance when android used to be cheaper. There are still alot of apps however that are cheaper or free on android so i feel, at least for the moment its an even mix. I suppose now they have the most apps and the bigger market share developers are trying to max income but its a big annoyance when prices are higher so essentially the same item.

I don't see how you feel this is the case? the UI for jelly bean is lovely skinned versions of android and older versions did not look up to scratch but i can honestly say the current ui is great. and to be fair, just like most tablets and phones, the basics revolve around a grid of apps just like IOS.

I love my Nexus, its rock solid (both software and hardware) i hardly ever put it down at home. Ideal size to carry around and use in one hand. I can honestly say its the best tablet ive had (and ive had a few) it grabs everything off my media server and is great for netflix. Not had any crashing issues at all and never use auto brightness on anything so cant say if mine works or not. Charge time on mine is very good as is battery life, alot of tablet orientated apps coming out now which work really great. had it since release day and i have to say its still super quick. Overall for me a Great device. That said i don't think id implement it in a school just yet (not keen and any tablet for school so far as we have ipads and not realy used for much).

Hi, sorry for delay in reply. We have students running these from there user areas, there users block .exe and other program files but portable apps still work, if we block the folder it creates when used then it wont run however there are 100's of portable apps and browsers are a real worry.

We currently use spiceworks, we have found the helpdesk function to be quite good as it means we can log all the jobs we are doing, get user made tickets from staff who need help and also track 3rd party repairs all in one system. It is set-up to email us when there is a new ticket on the system which means its abit easier to let manage. We also have it monitor all the ink levels in the printers which can come in handy aswell as tracking what AV we have installed on units (i.e make and version no) so you can see everything from a quick glance. We do seem to get alot of errors across the network that arnt 100% true however, such as errors advising a router is down when it is working fine.

I've always had good luck with active password changer, used to come with hirens but not sure if its still on there anymore..

Hi everyone, any neat quick ways to sort out issues with portable apps? we are currently blocking the location they save data to at the moment which works but is different per app. Is there a good way of blocking them all in one go? Thanks, Toothy.

Would you recommend, stay with Internet explorer? or any other browsers that are up-to date and easier to manage than chrome for education?
