Hi Toothy, Thanks for the reply, I was actually looking for a network bandwidth type of software which I could use to benchmark and monitor the network usage. For example: on a Monday morning measure the network usage and then in a weeks time measure it again and see if I get any major usage increase. Do you know of any free s\w I can try out? Hi Rob, Thanks very much for your advice. I understand what is happening or not happening being the case. I can at least build up the known list now and will connect to the clients that are in the list wirelessly. I think it is the Cisco wireless controller which is stopping the UDP packets getting through, this is what I'm investigating now. Cheers Alec

Hi rdhawkins It appears that you are right, if I connect to the clients with the cable connected and then remove cable and connect using wireless they do pick up the machines. So this means that if I want to pick up any clients I need to ensure that I have the known list of computers ticked connect using wired and the I can pick the same machines up wirelessy? Is this how RRC (netsupport) is supposed to work?

Hi Thanks for the response. I have ran a wireshark trace and the wireless laptop is sending out a request to netsupport (5405) on one of the client machines, but is not getting a ACK TCP packet) back from the client machine. I have also tested by picking up clients with the known list ticked option I then removed the cable and did a refresh in the RRC console and immediately disconnected the clients.

We use Ranger Remote Control it will not connect to any clients(wired desktop machines) when using a wireless laptop, however when I connect the laptop to the wired network it works fine. Equipment: Cisco wireless LAN controlller 4404. Laptops use win 7 and XP pro. Server 2008 R2 Can any body help? regards Alec

Thanks to everyone that replied, still not working, but I think it is the 'current count' on the KMS server I need to wait for it to get to 25, I thought it was the 'total requests received' which is currently at 46. current count: 8 'total requests received: 46 Cheers Techies some good responses

For activation the client count is 25, what is the count for. i.e. activation requests or how many win 7 clients I have on the network. To answer your question I have approx 50 - 60 clients, but these are all laptops and already activated using the MAK key.

I thought I read somewhere that if you use server 2008 r2, only one key is required which will activate both server and win 7 and I used the server KMS key using the following cmd: slmgr.vbs /ipk I'am trying to activate win 7 machines First time I have posted a thread and waht a great response

I currently have a KMS server setup running Office 2010, this is working fine. On the same server I have setup the KMS key using slmgr.vbs /ipk . What I understand: because I have installed KMS on the server, this can be used for server 2008 and win 7 using the KMS server key only? From a win 7 client machine after running slmgr.vbs -ato I get the following message code: 0xC004F074. On the Microsoft site it said a need a download to extend KMS, I attempted to install on my KMS server, it said it was not required. When I run slmgr.vbs /dli on the KMS server the following is reported: current count 2 port:1688 DNS enabled total requests received: 55 I have not put all the stats in, but everything seems normal. Can someone help
