Word Processing Apps for an iPad?

Hi there,

My head is very keen on having an iPad, mainly for conferences and meetings.

I am just exploring whether this would be suitable for her, and my biggest concern is the lack of word processing software. I came across Evernote which seems quite handy as you can also install it on a desktop computer making it easy to sync work etc, however I think to make full use, she would be needing the premium version.

 

Could any one suggest any alternatives or any views they have on this?

Hi thanks, I think we would probably be looking at one of the cheaper wifi only ones.

Windows 8 pad then you can install anything and use GoogleApps / Office 365 for online. I'm guessing your school has MS EES agreement so it wouldn't cost you anything to install word? Edited December 4, 2012 by TotalGeek

With an iPad or Android Tablet, try CloudON - I use it on my iPad. It's free.

I've setup Pages on the iPad then linked it with WebDAV so users can save/open Word documents from their shared areas on Windows Server.

 

Problem is the iPad isn't designed for Word Processing but just note taking.

QuickOffice HD or Documents both easy to use.

Another vote for CloudOn. It's a great app and syncs up nicely with GoogleDrive, Dropbox and Boxee. So your files are always saved in the cloud. And best thing Its totally FREE!

It does have offline mode. So will sync local edited docs when near a wifi / 3g.

Got Smart Office 2 on my personal iPad at home, it was free a couple of weeks ago, it's now gone back up to £6.99 but IMO it's very good, our Head had it months ago when we first got iPads in the school and never had a problem, goes meetings with it and types up notes and then emails it to himself to carry on editing if needed, it opens up in Office 2007 no problems.
