I know we have the wiki, and theres other sites with loads of links to free software but without ploughing through hundreds of useless links...

If everyone who reads this thread posts a link to a free peice of software we should get quite a list! (Obviously we dont need links to google earth and obvious ones like that)

WEBSITE DESIGN

Css Tab Designer - Simply click the style of navigation tabs you want for your website, it makes the code for you and you copy and paste it into your site. Really good to get the kids on the way to making a website. About 2 dozen differant templates so enough so that not everyone has the same

ASIO 4 All - http://www.asio4all.com/

Got cubase/cubasic, reason, Froutly loops, but no decent soundcard to use with them. Just use this driver and aslong as your motherboards soundcard is alright you will get decent latencies.

... and now we have another list to look through. At least the page on the wiki is categorized and can be updated by anyone (when the wiki is working!). I don't want to sound ungrateful, but this does not seem like a very good way of maintaining a list.

It may not be the best way; but until the Wiki's been fixed, it's dead handy!

The contents of this thread can always be added to the Wiki when it reopens and this thread closed.

^ That was the idea. Plus the fact that *no-one ever* adds to the wiki so i thought this might get peoples attention as they are browsing the forum, and it would seem that im right.

Ungrateful sod ;)

Ok, Ok ... I am looking at a temporary wiki at the moment ...

Sheesh, turn your back for a day or two and the masses revolt (then again ... some of you have been revolting for some time!)

Please be patient ... please continue to contribute to this thread and thank you to j17sparky for volunteering to add it all into the wiki when it is up and running again.

http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

The link has a number of apps on it of which i have not tried apart from the one called HoverSnap at the bottom of the page.

It doesn't need installing, can be run from anywhere. just 3 files i think. i put it in my startup folder then it hides in the sys tray. you can make screen dumps to a specified folder with specified naming, and you also have the option to draw a box around a specific part of the screen to capture.

i use it all the time on google maps as the default print option skews the maps and resizes whenever i try to print.

I know you said not to post a link to a website but the above one has the correct links from what I am aware for example

Free CD and DVD Burning (Writing) and Copying Software (thefreecountry.com)

Scroll down a bit and then you get a list of free cd / dvd burners

handbrake, super, any video convertor, burn or xp cd burner, http://www.wisesoft.co.uk for free utils for password reset, batch creating users, ntfs perms etc
