VMWARE : Can someone check this servers performance?

Thanks.

It's our mail server and users have been reporting mail being slow...

I've run a few disk defrags which seems to have helped slightly...

The attached graphs and settings should hopefully allow someone more knowledgeable than me to advise if I can up the resources for this server?

Memory is expected to be that high, disk usage seems to be rather alot.

How are the disks attached to the server? I.e Local storage ISCSI Fiber Channel?

The disk usage looks fine, but the server has a large drive how many mailboxes do you have? What version of exchange on what OS?

The only striking thing I can spot straight away is how little RAM you've given it, I'd give it 4GB plus. (mine has 700 mailboxes and 6GB ram, also the mailstore is on proper 10K SAS drives on my SAN.

We dont run exchange but Mdaemon Pro

Around 1500 user accounts.

Is there any point going above 4gb as the server os is only 2003 32bit?

SAN is connected via iSCSI (P4500 G2 - 4.91TB (12 x 450 SAS 15k)

You should be able to change it in chart options in the advanced tab.

I would also check the latency in Datastore view.

if you are using the enterprise version of 2003 32bit you can use upto 32GB ram using PAE (36bit addressing since intel pro on) Never used it myself though so I don't know all the gotyas.
