Patrick Robinson - Any of the books with Admiral Arnold Morgan (Starting from Nimitz Class and ending with Too The Death)...very good series of books...not all reliant on the previous for the story line, but it does help. < If your man enjoys gritty military fiction.

Thanks for the thought - but no, he doesnt. mrwITch only reads SF and apocalyptic-type novels (loves a good end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it scenario be it plague, aliens or zombies) or non-fiction

@Gibson335 if you work in Primary School, Santa exists... end of! There is never any questioning of this fact.

 

You should meet the headteacher of my stepdaughter's primary school......if he had his way, as soon as the children arrive at his school they'd be told that Santa isn't real.....thankfully his staff put enough pressure on him so he still has to allow christmas parties with Santa.

Santa isn't real. The easter bunny isn't real. You will be a slave to the system for the rest of your life.

My children were always taught that the Santas you see at Christmas are not the real one anyway because at a very early age they noticed that there were lots of them!

It's all outsourcing and franchises these days.

 

Back in my day, it was the real Santa.

My children realised that the school Santa was the granddad of one of their friends and told me .

 

My response was very impressed and along the lines of:

 

"Really? He must be ever so special! Santa is so busy at this time of year and sometimes he has to ask someone to stand in for him. He won't ask anyone!"

 

Both my little ones were perfectly happy with my response and just thought that their friend's granddad had a really important friend. Problem solved.

 

I'm not actually sure when they completely stopped believing; my son in particular didn't take any risks and seemed to believe for a lot longer than his older sister (who did manage to keep her trap shut on pain of death!)

Because to rebute I had to chage my proxy [snopes is blocked...], export the page to word [can't select text], find and copy the text... Then attribute the correct source.

That would be a monitor. It was slightly twisted counter clockwise, not enough for me to be unable to see it, just enough to bug me.

I'm at a similar position at the moment, step son doesn't believe......step daughter is in the camp of "I'd best believe just in case"......years ago, their Grandad played the role of Santa in the local garden centre......both of them spent ages sat on his knee and they had no idea who he was.....it did help reinforce the idea that Santa is real though when he called them both by their first names without having to ask :-)

The English Father Christmas

 

See here. apparently he used to wear different colours, including red, until the Coke ads of the 30s.

BUT the shocking thing is that Father Christmas and Santa Claus are not the same thing!

In my house, he is always Father Christmas anyway
