rad Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I had a similar one, it was a web page that was showing. A virus warning. Thanks google!
AngryTechnician Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I had a similar one, it was a web page that was showing. A virus warning. We used to get those about once a week when we still had our RM Smartcache. I even circulated screenshots to staff titled "Why your computer doesn't have a virus", but people still routinely reported it until we switched to Smoothwall. Haven't had a single report since.

I'd not thought about that until you mentioned it, but we're the same - the fake Windows XP explorer window with the pop up in the middle, used to love walking all the way across site to close the tab and patiently explain that it's fine. Just one more reason to love the Smoothie, then.
hardtailstar Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I get those calls all the time at home.
mjs_mjs Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I get those calls all the time at home. Tell them you use linux and hear them squirm...

Hedghog Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Yep had one of those the other day - receptionist (bless her) called me up. I said ok - ask the guy on the phone which one of the 350 or so PCs we have has the virus. The call was abruptly terminated.
clareq Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 We had one on our DDI line yesterday. My colleague played them along for about 15 minutes on speakerphone. When she asked what version of Windows he was using and he replied "Windows 7 Vista" I had to leave the room 2
