Currently having a problem with a HP Laserjet 2550 colour laser printer - On printouts there appears to be a red/pink/magenta drop shadow behind black text!

Any help? HP don't want to help for free

Duff Printer, sounds like its slipping slightly hence you can see the magenta behind the black as its not layering them correctly.

Does sound like John's about right...

You could check by swapping out the magenta (and possibly the black?) toner carts and seeing if the problem still exists... but first I'd try seeing if there's any way to re-align the carts... (May seem like a dumb suggestion but I'm stuck in inkjet mode atm :p)

Just looking at the printer online - it looks like a four-pass model, which would probably rule out re-aligning the colours as the drum is in the same place and it's just the carts that change. I would probably say that it's a terminal fault within the printer.

This Printer or the upgrade the 2600 is only £129 at Insight.. ?!?!?

I was looking to change the drum on a 2550.. but that costs £109
