mattx Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Quick question before I go head first into a google lake.... Got WSUS 3 setup and working well for our domain PCs / Laptops etc. Got a workgroup PC I want to update on it..... With the old SUS you just installed the relevant service pointing it to the server - is it the same with WSUS ? If so - where is the service exe you need to install and config...?
Nij.UK Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 could this not be done by just setting the local group policy on the workgroup pc to point to the internal wsus server?
mattx Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 Good thinking - I was about to get all dirty with the registry as I found this: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/75ee9da8-0ffd-400c-b722-aeafdb68ceb31033.mspx?mfr=true
Geoff Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 The Technet articles cover this. http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/d446d310-413f-4844-8aad-c557712397401033.mspx?mfr=true
cheesypete Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Just to add to Nij.UKs comment really In GPMC go to Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components / Windows Updates Alter settings to match your servers....etc
