How to install SIMS on Windows Server 2008 R2?

Hello, I recently upgraded our server to Windows Server 2008 R2. I would like to create a NEW blank database for SIMS. I ran SIMSINST v1.21.3.0 and when it was just installing MSDE 2000 it said that it was incompatible with the operating system and that it needed to be run on Windows NT 4.0, Xp or 98. Is there a different version of Microsoft SQL that is freely available and compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 and SIMSINST v1.21.3.0. If so, how would I create a database for SIMSINST or will it do it for me? And (sorry, I have a lot of requests) what is the default login for SIMS once everything is installed?

MSDE 2000? SIMS.net now requires at least MS SQL 2008 - Express is fine if you want free and your DB is small. Not 100% that's what you're asking for, but the software you're referring to dates back as long as some of our students lifetimes!

MSDE 2000

The simsinst.exe doesn't seem to get replaced on old setup directories for some reason, it's probably the old unsightly blue one?

You need to download the latest setup CD and copy the updates with a newer date into the folder and install from that. The new installer is quite different!
