[sims] Department Heads Cannot See Marksheets
RogerCorrigan replied to RogerCorrigan's topic in MIS Systems
Do you know the process for doing this? When creating marksheets for classes, it seems you can't choose the supervisor/owner for the marksheets as they automatically get assigned to the teacher for each class. -
I've used Assessment Manager for years and never come across this issue before: Department Heads (who are correctly set up as such in Course Manager) can only see marksheets for classes they teach, instead of all classes in their department. I've checked Course Manager to ensure they're set up as supervisors with the "Head of Department" title, they're all assigned to the "Class Teacher" group in System Manager. For what it's worth, I also found that Head of Years can't see all marksheets for their year group either. Bit of a loss as to what to look for next, if anybody has any ideas. I don't really want to grant the department heads Assessment Coordinator permissions, but that's looking like my only option at the moment. TIA!

[sims] Capita is trying to sell off non-core businesses (SIMS is for sale)
RogerCorrigan replied to psydii's topic in MIS Systems
According to Montagu, the plan is to continue with and roll out SIMS 8. -
Are you referring to Lesson Monitor? You'll still need it if you want to work with lesson attendance data. SIMS Core Suite includes the barebones attendance module for daily AM/PM registration. With regards to the Census, I believe the only data required for submission are the AM and PM reg marks - marks for individual lessons aren't counted.

Capita Helldesk sounds about right

You'll need to create your own exam basedata in SIMS Examinations under "DOM" (for 'Domestic' examinations)

Capita Technical Support - Where have they gone?
RogerCorrigan replied to Tefters's topic in MIS Systems
I too am experiencing delays with the Capita support desk; 2 months have passed so far... hopefully they'll get back before I retire in 20 years time! -
Is it possible to delete old academic years from SIMS? I've never had to do this, but I'd like to tidy up our training datasets (if possible).
-
Thanks!

The latest installable SIMS ISO seems to be the Summer 2013 one or has their been another since? If anyone could PM me a link to the ISO or a KB article I'd be very grateful

[sims] (Training) Duplicating an Academic Year
RogerCorrigan replied to RogerCorrigan's topic in MIS Systems
Or a way to "promote" the students into the same Year groups? -
Is it possible to duplicate an academic year for training datasets? I.e create a New training academic year (for this year) using the exact same data as the previous academic year, so essentially restarting the year? I'd like to avoid using the Promotion and Leavers routine and adding new students etc unless it's absolutely required by the system

@minimoo even if it's been In Recovery all day?
-
Restarted SQL and the database is now "In Recovery" Our last backup was only a month ago, so it's not too big an issue
-
The errors were from the apply timetable wizard Off the top of my head, A few "dates" were unable to have the timetabled applied to them, some "DELETE" operations failed (due to a referential integrity error).
-
Hi All, We'd just finished the timetable in NT6, sent it to the SQL Database successfully and went to apply the timetable to the new academic year when it failed with several errors. An easy fix, I assume, would be to just delete the academic year and start again, HOWEVER, since the operation failed, we are now unable to login to SIMS. Unfortunately, a backup was not made before the timetable was updated (as it wasn't a DB patch or Upgrade etc), we do have backups to restore from though. How can I fix this?

Hiya, Has anybody had any experience with using Dynamics CRM for a secondary school? Is it even scalable/customisable to schools for educational use? Our head suggested using it in conjunction with our MIS (SIMS .net) to manage communication with parents etc.

[sims] Anyone having trouble running reports?
RogerCorrigan replied to ChrisH's topic in MIS Systems
What are the specs of your document server(s)? Are they on the same server as SIMS SQL? A problem we recently had with running reports/uploading documents was that the DMS service kept stopping. I mean usually if it's stopped you're completely unable to run specific reports, but it could be a factor in slowing you down :/. Is the rest of SIMS fairly quick for you? i.e, only reports are slow -
[sims] Adding Pay Bonuses in SIMS/FMS?
RogerCorrigan replied to RogerCorrigan's topic in MIS Systems
Thanks @PhilNeal. They got back to us rather quickly this morning and we have it sorted -
Hi all, I had an odd request yesterday, one of our finance staff asked about how to add a payment bonus on FMS/SIMS Personnel. I suggested that Allowances and Allowance Awards would be something that could work, but apparently when they enter a desired bonus amount in Allowance Awards, FMS calculates it to be a much lesser amount, e.g an annual award of 500.0 only adds 1.34 to the salary. I've suggested that they just simply remember to edit the amount in the Individual Payment section, but does anyone know how to add bonuses properly in FMS/SIMS Personnel, or how to use Allowances properly?

Hi All, We've just come across this problem where nobody can access the SIMS Examinations Module. It hangs for a bit, and then asks for a login, and if you put valid SIMS login details in, it doesn't accept them. Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it? Thanks, Roger

Which fields is authorised_pay_rate referring to though? My guess would be something on the contract on the employment details page; however I've looked and nothing seem to be out of the ordinary..
-
Hi guys! Staff are unable to add absences through the Cover page because they receive this error: I've told them that as a workaround, they should add absences through the Staff details page, and this seems to work for now. Was just wandering what this could possibly be? I've contacted Capita's ESD, but figured I'd probably get a quicker reply here...

[sims] SOLUS 3 - SIMS Summer 2015 Release
RogerCorrigan replied to RogerCorrigan's topic in MIS Systems
Will they appear eventually in SOLUS?
