Picking up illnesses?

I must admit I picked up a lot - but not sure if it was from the students, or the vast numbers of staff for whom washing hands after using the toilet seems optional to.

 

I'd go in, sit down to go - hear someone else come in, go, flush and straight back out the door into circulation. The exception were those who actually washed

Also do you know where most germs are in survey they did....

I had 100% no-illness record until I started work here, then I fell ill almost all the time. Most frustrating indeed!

 

... and not just for you !!

 

That being said, in my first year I got pneumonia (twice) after getting a cold/cough and also a most annoying and painful case of shingles.

 

Since then not a lot other than colds etc. Hygiene is paramount in a place full of spluttering kids that seem incapable of using a handkerchief.

I have been here 5 years and have had a couple of days off in that time.

I always thought that having 3 children of my own meant that I am now immune to any bugs as I have had them around for a long time!

Interestingly, in one of my schools the teachers are far more likely to be off with colds, infections etc than in the other one. The first school is not a particularly happy place to be and I think this is reflected in the illness rate. I don't think they are lying, they really do seem to get ill more often!

Some great replies there every one and I totaly sympathise with all cases!

 

Although I did read somewhere that computer keyboards harbour more germs than toilet seats! Because toilet seats are cleaned often!

I work in 3 Primary schools and 1 High School.... haven't stopped coughing and wheezing since 2004

 

but then again I am a crack addict.

I've just had the standard coughs and colds, and stomach upsets that have gotten better over the years (well getting them less) but the last 2 weeks have been hell, I have had sore throat, ear infection in both ears, eye infection in both eyes, my right ear has still not healed and I am now partially deaf in it!!

 

 

Worse 2 weeks......ever.......
