I've discovered a new conflict -

Windows 7 SP1 + IE9 + Adobe Reader 11, with PC 5144 installed randomly crashes Internet Explorer 9. I've reported this to Link2ICT 07/11/12.

By returning to Adobe Reader 9.5.2 or Adobe Reader 10.1.4 cures the problem.

Today I've tested PCE 5146 Beta which fixes the problem between Adobe Reader 11 and IE, multiple icons appearing in the taskbar and also other unrelated issues.

The update should be released in the near future, so watch this space! :)

I'm having to resort to imaging to get a load of our clients to 5145. Some are still on 41xx and all of them refuse to uninstall using their force tool. I don't know how much we pay for Policy Central but it isn't worth it. Maybe 5146 will make all the difference.

Make sure you have the latest removal tool. A new one is published every month. If you need a link, drop me a PM.

I'm still using 4.1 on the clients but upgraded the console to 5x last week.

5x seems really slow to load as well as being twice as difficult to look things up quickly. I can't say I'm impressed with PCE at the moment.

Sorry to hijack this thread.

One of the schools I support has recently upgraded to the latest client, and we have had a lot of reports of staff and students getting an RunDLL error on startup.

I haven't had chance to check it out throughly but if I log in as me (an admin) the AUP for PCE appears fine, but when a student for example it brings up the runDLL error and then the AUP screens appears without any text in the AUP. So the error message is related to PCE and maybe some sort of rights issue related to running the AUP on startup.

Anyone else ran into this?

Yes - you need to uninstall and re-install PCE. It's the only way to properly fix it.

Really?

I rolled out via GP so would a redploy work here?

To the best of my knowledge you cannot repair PCE or re-deploy/re-install. You have to uninstall, reboot and re-install.

Thanks to Michael, I've at long last managed to uninstall the machines that weren't updating and they are now all running 5145.

You're welcome, glad you were successful!

Something I don't understand with 5.1, I get an Activity report for a word or phrase but when I look at the screen image, there's no trace of that word. In V4 the word would be displayed even if the enter key wasn't pressed.

Unfortunately I wouldn't know... I don't look a the screenshots it reports, I leave that up to Senior Management or the ICT Co of each school. All I worry about is installing the client so it works.

I found that happened in V4 as well. I put it down to the word being in a window in the background or the user deleted it before the screen was captured. This is one of lifes mysteries I no longer care about

Sound advice, I just hate the idea that the little darlings might be getting away with something :)

I used to but then I realised that the persistant offenders always gave me an opportunity to catch them another day :-)

Decided to stick this in here.

I'm having complaints that staff are opening documents online, for example PDF's on Primary resources, and after a few seconds the pages errors. I only link this with Policy Central because its only just been reinstalled on our Win 7 machines and so far this is where the complaints are coming from....

Reason I ask is Adobe Reader 9 and 10 work OK with PCE 5145, but Adobe Reader 11 crashes. PCE 5146 fixes this but hasn't been deployed as yet.
