movie maker msi for xp

I don't suppose anyone knows of a direct link to the XP version of Movie Maker do they?

 

I have not come up trumps looking at any google searches :-(

Movie Maker is standard as part of XP. What are you trying to do?

2.6 works with both XP and Win 7. I use it successfully where I have a mixed network

As @Chris_ says Movie Maker is already installed into XP. You can't even remove it from the addremovefeatures menu.

Its included within the Service pack 2 I believe.

A techer has asked me to check the IT suite to see if movie maker works correctly on all PC's. I have inherrited this school, and believe all workstations are at SP3 (XP environment).

For ease of use, I would just like to redeploy the software rather than visit all machines.

 

I have managed to extract the files from a MovieMaker20.exe file and now have all the relevant files needed to deploy.

I think there's a GPO that disables Movie Maker, or it might just be that someone has deleted the shortcuts (I've done this on our network).

 

I wouldn't recommend using Movie Maker, it's very picky about video formats. It's also not very powerful and doesn't use timetimes. If you can afford it get Serif Movie Maker or Sony Vegas (I've only used this in a domestic setting so make sure it works well in a school environment before ordering).

Right, have a look in c:\program files and see if there's a movie maker folder. If there is then all you need to do is make a shortcut to Moviemk.exe and place this in the start menu. It should be fairly easy to automate.

I dunno, it's slightly quicker and less frustrating then editing VHS with a pair of blunt scissors and some cellotape.

I know what you mean but since i've switched from using MJPEG to HUFFYUV coded source videos (from a stop animation package - just added a ffmpeg script to do the conversion) its proved remarkably stable on my primary XP netbooks (but it really really didn't like sources coded in MJPEG )

 

Of course the source videos are now much larger but I stick with doing all capturing/editing on the local machine and only uload the finished WMVs to the network 9 (does mean pupils remembering which netbook they were on of course!)

We have 64 netbooks - can't see the children remembering which one they were on!
