Soundbar advice

Afternoon all,

 

I'm after a bit of advice.

 

I've just bought myself a new shiny 40" tv for my lounge, but am after something to give the sound a bit of something.

 

My lounge is very small and doesn't lend itself to having a traditional 5.1 setup in it, so I've been looking at soundbars.

 

Anyone got one? Are they worth the money? Any recommendations?

if you must get a soundbar get a yamaha. otherwise, quite frankly get a 2.1 system. I used to repair them for a living and the yamaha is amazing. The next best one i've heard was a sharp, but it really was poor in comparison.

The family has a soundbar for both TVs in the house, both Yamaha. One's for a Samsung (notoriously weak sound on that model); larger drivers in that one, other's on a Sony 3D set; more compact, both bars are great pieces of kit. Good connectivity, looks good and sounds fine.
