sbutterworthtj Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Hi All, We have the strangest problem here with the following setup: ActivPrimary v2.5 (latest patch) Driver versions 3.0.X and 4.x.x Recent version of Primary whiteboards (purchased in last year and a half) Dell D520 laptop with latest bios and XP SP2 USB connection Exchange 2003 network, users with Roaming Profiles Basically, every so often (maybe once every couple of weeks) when using the whiteboards as usual, a blank worksheet will appear when using the pen. Using the undo function returns it to how it should be and then the problem usually dissapears (though sometimes a restart is needed to stop it happening again). Promethean said they have not seen this before, and I tried their various possible fixes with no success. All staff using this setup have this problem and I wonder if anyone else has seen it? I think it is only happening with the Dell laptops, but being an intermittent problem it is hard to tell. Thanks, Tim Stewart's Melville College, Edinburgh
starscream Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Wasn't there a new driver release in the last month or so? Just an idea if it is pen related.
StuartC Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Hi Tim, I'd be interested if you could PM me the name of the person you spoke to. Anyway, I have seen this problem before, and in my experience it is normally fixed by updating my display drivers. However a workaround (if this is only happening on certain systems) is to activstudio settings>flipchart objects>untick "High Quality Lines and Shapes".
steve Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I've seen this problem too, only happened on an odd laptop we had. Tried the "High Quality Lines and Shapes", updating drivers, re-installing activstudio, upgrading to v3. Nothing would cure it. I raised a case - so they should be aware of the problem. There were several similar issues on the promethean forums too. In the end I gave it up as a bad job and told Promethean to drop it.
john Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 The nib or button hasn't got jammed into the pen has it? I've had weird things happen when thats happened.
steve Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I had this happen even when not connected to the board - just using the mouse. Deffinatly an activstudio issue ( i removed the drivers too).
bjones Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 We had this same problem. A tech from Pro. came to our schools. He said that there was a conflict with some versions of Activ Studio and certain versions of drivers. I will see if I can find the info if you are still intrested.
