[closed] bug/error: getting a ESET warning from b.scorecardresearch.com/beacon.js

I'm getting a popup box from ESET in my system tray telling me that "the connection to b.scorecardresearch.com/beacon.js from domain edugeek.net has been closed, address is untrusted."

Hmm I suspect its a false positive, I dont have ESET and cant find any problems with the scripts etc. Possibly try updating definitions in a little and see if it has been removed.

I've had a quick google and scorecardresearch doesn't have a brilliant rep... ESET Definitions get pushed every hour as they arrive, so i'll sit tight and watch what happens!

I am trying to find out if others have had detection issues but nothing so far although its hard to be 100%.

Are you using ESET?

Its not actually a threat/malware its just the domain thats being flagged as such by the looks of it.

Yeah, what ESET is moaning about is data being sent to that domain as ESET recognises it as not being hugely trust worthy!

 

It's happening all over the school with lots of websites, I think a new update of ESET definitions is now flagging it up as a baddie (rightly or wrongly)

I was having the same issue earlier.

Seems to have cleared up now though.

My definitions were updated at 15:30 so that may have fixed it.

I suppose its not that its a baddie or not, more its a legit script thats used by tons. There has maybe been a bad ad served from there which is why it has been locked out now (as can happen with adsense) but many ad providers use scorecard so it may not be an ad directly to do with EduGeek but rather another network that has had an issue.
