Looking to get..

Someone give me a few options in regards to companies etc. I've checked Dell but can't get a PC without Windows bundled.....Ggggrrrrr.

Ebuyer have some good spec Zoostorm systems for low prices Desktop Computers | All In One Desktop PCs | Ebuyer.com We've had a couple here and the cases are cheap and the psu can be a bit noisy, but if you want a cheap machine that flies speed-wise these do the trick...

Build yourself... modern PCs take maybe a couple of hours to build tops, depending on the case, and are much more satisfying (and generally have much better PSUs in, as well). Plenty of good PC building guides out there to give you a solid spec, but I reckon that for gaming only, Core i3 will do you, AMD 6850/6870 cards are cheap at the moment as they're being phased out (and they are VERY quick for the money), gobs of RAM, 128gb Crucial m4 (about £90 on eBuyer atm) and a decent PSU about the 500W mark. Case is really personal preference but FWIW, this case is superb for the money - used it for three builds now and I'm still amazed at how quiet and nice it is for the price.

I got my current rig from Computer Planet, it took them 3 months to be fully usable though. They sent it out the first time and the PCIe slots were at a 45 degree angle and hanging off the motherboard. We honestly thought they'd gone Phil Collins drum solo on the 2 graphics cards to try to fit them in.

 

Got to give it to them though, they sent a courier out to pick it up and resent the parts assembled once again (minus the graphics cards at our request).

Worked fine that time, just not sure they liked fitting the crossfire configuration. Threw in a free surge protector too!

Another +1 for Novatech.

 

I bought all the parts and assembled it myself. My gaming rig is currently at version 2.5, having its innards changed from parts all from Novatech over 3 years.

 

It's funny that Computer Planet has been mentioned. We have a custom built machine here at school from CP, as building it by hand for work was time consuming and fiddly with warranties and repair etc. It's been flawless also, not a single blip with it.
