Had a nice little surprise when I got home today, I downloaded a 2.5GB video file in less than a minute! At first I thought there was a problem with the download but after checking the file I realised this was not a dream! :D

Went over to good old speedtest.net and my result came out at 60MEG! :first:

Seems virgin have done as prommised for once and speed has doubled.. let's see how long this lasts! haha

(here's the result)

I noticed last night that after my recent post about a surprise speed double to 20Mbps I have been increased further to 30Mbps :)

Apologies to all who have had trouble with VM but I think they are OK...

why do they give such low u/l ?

Most residential broadband has slow upload unless you pay for an upgrade to the upload speed. I personally don't require a high upload at home. What is odd though is how my phone gets nearly 5meg upload. Baffling!

Yes I am fully aware of how broadband works but I would think with the virgin infrastructure you'd get better up than that.

Out of curiosity what are you getting ratio wise?

Generally on Virgin we seem to be 10:1 up to down. But since they "doubled" speeds, it's only doubled download. Here I'm 10D:1U will be 20D:1U :D Speedy I tell you!

Nor me, one of the reasons I'm departing them very soon - can't have unusable broadband (after throttling) till October (at least). Besides which, it's clear they can't manage existing load correctly so I have huge doubts about their ability to do so with doubled speeds all round. I can't stand them as a company and I'd still call their products sub par if they labelled it "Lidl Broadband".

Glad to be getting rid.

Oh, I'm not dissing Virgin Media. Excellent service. Excellent constant speed. A few problems in the past but sorted out very quickly. I'm just impatient and want my doubled speed NOW. Haha.

I've too many issues with them :( Harassment, disrespectful of any idea of disability or the laws there to help disabled people (HUGE problem with many people),lack of communication (when it's needed) otherwise. Not at all happy with them. To a point where a couple of weeks ago, I was happy to let them cancel my contract (which shouldn't have existed) early and call it quits - since they decided to ignore the "DO NOT CALL" notes they probably never put on my file and call me, I'm tempted to commence legal action to at least make an attempt at getting them to fix many of their customer based problems. Communication is often one of the biggest problems with such companies yet it's always the easiest to fix.

Im having very bad experience with VM recently. i was a customer for 4 years with 2MB then they freely upgraded to 10 mb with no problem. later i recommended my uncle to move to 30mb from 10mb. since he never able to get more than 5mb. after 1year battle we decided to leave. they call again and offered 100 mb and reduced the cost. so far we had 2 engineers visit, twice "SUPERHUB" changed. Final verdict from the engineer we never able to get that 100 mb from wireless but only 10-15mb. to get 100 mb to use wired connection. not very happy at all. Edited by lionsl2005
