Guest Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Hi I'm a IT Technician in a school in Doncaster. we have had the Frog learning platform for the past year I'm having a few issues with uploading a file within my files area. I'm using windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit and have the latest adobe flash, but i believe the problem stems from using Internet Explorer 9 the problem I'm having is, when i go to "ME" area, then go to "My Folder" then click on "New then "Files" the window popup comes up, but when i click "Select File" the whole window locks up, including the one behind it now I've gone over a few things, GPO's, obtaining the latest version of Flash player (both 32bit and 64bit!), and still no joy, I've even reformatted and not joined to the domain and tried then but no luck, I've tried Firefox and chrome and these work perfectly fine, but i don't want to have to use them i did disable flash player in IE9 and it works fine which is wierd!!?? I've been in touch with my local LEA at the council about my problem and they are even scratching their heads at this one. I have attached a picture of my problem have any of you had this problem and how did you solve it! please help me before i go mad lol :-) Hope you can help Regards Phil Croxford Edited April 30, 2012 by phillip_croxford
chazzy2501 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 yeap, also SCORM won't work either. Just hit the compatability button and it works.
Guest Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 tried that as well lol doesn't want to know. I'm very sure its a IE9 issue!! its a bag of pants really. it would be better if software developers started to introduce HTML5 coding, as i hate adobe flash player. so much can go wrong with it
HC_Netman Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Have you tried the simple uploader? There should be a link somewhere on the upload screen - this usually works for us. This is a problem we have had recently and one I think Frog need to fix rather than providing workarounds.
chazzy2501 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yes, I like the way it makes IE crash and recover:) but you can use the basic uploader... Which I don't see in your SS. Frog not updated you yet?
mitchell1981 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 This fixed it for us: Enable the Menu Bar Select Tools Select Compatibility View Settings In the settings window untick Display intranet sites in Compatibly View Click Close If that works for you, then you can roll it out using the following User GPO: Administrative Templates/Windows Componenents/Internet Explorer/Compatibility View/ Turn off Compatibility View - Enabled Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for Local Intranet - Enabled
Guest Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks chazzy2501 but i don't even have that option! so the answer to your question is no. i don't think they have updated us But looking at your windows im going to enquire about this! Mitchell1981 thanks for your reply but doesnt work. ive tried it! and no luck
mitchell1981 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Strange, that fixed it for us, after weeks with the exact same problem. Might be worth trying the Internet Explorer Standard Mode setting (in the GPO), just in case that is the one that does it. One of those settings definitely did it for us. Apologies if you've already tried both settings. Frog aren't great at fixing these things quickly, and the basic uploaded is a pain if you need to upload multiple files!
Guest Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 ooo now then i havent tried the standard mode. ill hunt for it and try it thanks
mthomas08 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Strange I had this once and it lasted for about 2 hours, since then I have not had a problem - Windows 7/IE9 here as well. Have you tried giving Frog a call? I might have done a full internet settings clean, I honestly can't remember if I fixed it or it just started to work. Have you tried it on another machine as your self or even as say an administrator - which has no GPO settings? Although I will add they are currently working on FrogOS4 which is for all the new browsers and mobile devices etc.
Guest Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I given my support desk a call. i cant call Frog directly because our support is with our LEA at the council, then they get in touch with frog, I've had this problem since last year and still no luck. their solution is compatibility settings, but I've tried this and no luck!! I hope they hurry with the new version as this is ridiculous! if i was them i would work on a HTML5 version.
mthomas08 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Frog – The World’s first Learning Platform Designed for Tablets « Here is the info regarding the future update, they are being tight lipped over it though. As for your problem if its Frog then perhaps your server needs updating if its on the same version I am then I dont think its Frog side thats the problem. I not long rebuilt the PC I am on and nearly all our laptop/PCss are on Windows 7 IE9 and no issues so far. I dont think its a GPO setting either because I have pretty much none as an administrator and staff/students have tons. Fully updated your PC? I am short on ideas minus trying to break mine. Even more sorry that you have to go through your LEA to contact frog.... once some one here has a problem they are able to contact me and I can get right on the case.
Guest Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 yip all my PCs are on Service Pack 1. i really am scratching my head!
frogwoman Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I had much the same problems in September , Compatibility mode was the key for us, then the problems gradually got fixed in the frog version. My toolkit version is currently at 12.04.02. Do you have access to your frogserver toolkit to check you version (it's under the help option)? Also going through the frog community site and looking at the release notes in the support section, might give you a clue as to what was fixed when.
Guest Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 No sadly i don't have access to that. i believe our LEA has this! Where can i find the frog community site? can you send me the link please. i would be most grateful thank you
frogwoman Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) not sure if this will work for you as ours is a link in our portal and this is an alternative method for when things like proxy's are against you! Frog community site you will then get asked to enter your external frog server details, so that it can validate your login - you may be barred from doing this by role/profile settings. Edited May 1, 2012 by frogwoman url appeared wrong
Guest Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 thanks but its a no go!!! wont accept it, i think i will just have to wait patiently untill they update frog. if support cant help me then i cant do any more! thanks all for helping tho
Moos3h Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi Phillip, Can I ask - do you still have a problem accessing the Frog community site? Thanks
Guest Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi yes i still have a problem. i have put in the full domain name of our site and it didnt want to know.
Moos3h Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Your public URL to your frogserver? So in my case, it's 'portal.stalbans-high.herts.sch.uk' (without the quotes) and then the username and password you log onto Frog with? Strange. PM me the name of the school and I'll see if I can find out anything further for you?
Guest Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 *Update* it seems if i disable Adobe Shockwave Version 11.1.102.62 from the "Manage Add-ons" screen it brings up the Simple uploader. and works!!! finally im getting somewhere :-) i deployed this through GPO last year. and seems to be the culpret???? not sure what do you guys think. do i need to down grade me shockwave to get it working properly?
mthomas08 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Got 11.1.102.63 here, Shockwave we install on every machine but we never used GPO to deploy this one. We just install exe or use site for images. Perhaps try a manual update from website instead of using GPO see if that helps?
Guest Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Update 2! i can now confirm it is my Adobe Shockwave msi installation i downloaded from the adobe site, i did deploy this file through out the school. it has corrupted all my pcs in school and will have to rebuild a new school image! just been onto the adobe site for the shockwave uninstaller and will not uninstall it, it still remains within the Add-ons list, ive disabled the software deployment gpo! thanks to all that have tried to help. ** Stroll on HTML5 when we dont have to rely on this stupid plugins!!!!! **
mthomas08 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Glad to of helped, hopefully if other people are having this problem they will see this. Might be a good idea to drop frog an email just to let them know so they can pass on the info to other people who have the same issue.
Guest Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 yip i will do! i was told that it depends on Adobe Flash Player, so im a bit surprised here on shock wave being a culprit! i will let them know on this.
