reggiep Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Our upload speed has dropped off a cliff this week. Can anyone beat that for tardiness?
SYNACK Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Let me dig out my 14.4k modem Your down speed is epic though.
SYNACK Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Here's my home 'full speed' ADSL2+ connection http://www.speedtest.net/result/1899406280.png Look at that lovely ping time to a server less than 40km away from me.

I knew things were a little slower in New Zealand but that is pretty slow! Then again you can still upload quicker than us!
synaesthesia Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Ours has gone a little weird, 50mbps download, 60-65mbps upload. From a 40/40 connection.

Indeed, even up hill Have you checked the fibre connection, perhaps the tx side is damaged somewhere or there is a screw up at the ISP.
reggiep Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 Oh our provider knows there is a problem, they just have not fixed it yet!
chazzy2501 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I pay for 20down20up http://www.speedtest.net/result/1899424352.png
SYNACK Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Oh our provider knows there is a problem, they just have not fixed it yet! Wireshark capture of all the request traffic on the local side output to their fax machine via a modem to get the point across?
reggiep Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 Wireshark capture of all the request traffic on the local side output to their fax machine via a modem to get the point across? Now there's an idea to keep me occupied until home time.
Luke_T Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Well we pay for 100 down / 100 up ... and are currently mad at them cos of this: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1899431351.png Finally ping got resolved as was sitting consistently over 60 ... now to convince them that there is a problem with the connection! admitedly ... sometimes we'll get up to 8mbps down & 90-odd up ...
GrumbleDook Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Ours has gone a little weird, 50mbps download, 60-65mbps upload. From a 40/40 connection. Sshhhh ... don't tell everyone ... (yes, caps are being tweaked and tested on some sites to see how things perform).
GrumbleDook Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I do hope folks also realise that running speed tests during the day *when others might also be on the network* might give inaccurate readings.
Luke_T Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 That's our best result today! sniff sniff sniff ...
GrumbleDook Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 @Luke_T ... ah ... it is obvious the case that the string between the tin cans is not stretched tight enough
synaesthesia Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Oh we're not complaining To be fair, EMBC's been rock solid on the speed front - at least it was when we asked them if 4mbps was our utmost limit last year "Oh, no - try again now"
