Fundamental rule - don't offer IT facilities with Hiring!! We don't even allow the use of the Projector in our Main hall when that is booked - although they are allowed the use of the screen!

Interesting, looks like a precedent has been set here, full use of IT kit with log ins. We support them, but we don't charge extra for it

We don't tend to have revision such hirings, Ours is mainly just the main hall, canteen and a couple of classrooms for the local music Service. 6th Form common room occasionally. But we have a dual use agreement as have a sports center on the side so most bookings are with them not us!

Ours are let out EVERY break from Xmas to Summer. In the past teachers and students ran riot, remotes disappearing, LCD tv panel "keyed", ect. Since then I've micro managed them and to be fair, they have now given us a good course leader. I have no real issues now, but glad this has been raised as its good to know I'm not the only one and would be glad to hear if anyone's negotiated extra funds for support/wear and tear etc.

It's the company who have used our premises for a long time.

I didn't want to ask them to do something I was unwilling to do myself so I did the work.

Dave, what I do is get my techs to go around last thing, check PC, IWB and sound in each class. We got them a standalone mono inkjet which is installed on an old laptop, which we set up in our staff room. I reset their profile and password and after that we only go in first thing to sort out screen cloning and leave approx 20 mins each day. Suppose were are lucky as myself and my full time tech live within a 3 to 4 min walk from the school.

It takes me about half an hour to drive in if the traffic is OK. I wanted to be on site for any problems that might have arisen rather that have them wait for me to drive in.

 

As it turned out there were a few problems. Yesterday we had a power cut 10 minutes before the morning sessions started. Not a major problem normally but the RCD switch for the server room tripped out when the power came back. The UPS kept the servers up but the switches in the server room had no power.
