Finding out HDD Sizes

Hi all,.

 

Our windows 7 image is 80GB atm and some of our decent computers have onlu had 80gb hdds put in them so we need to know before we start imaging them?

 

Is their any free software that i can use to find out the HDD size of a computer and export it with the relivant computer name,

 

 

any ideas???

Not a answer to your problem however have you ever looked at XenApp/App-V - they allow applications to be streamed on demand to computers - cuts down the image size to just include Windows 7 and a small client and then the applications are pulled down onto the machines as and when needed.

 

It makes imaging significantly faster as well.

We use Spiceworks (FOC) to scan the network and provide an inventory of devices, including HDD's, and software, etc.

Just a question - how is your image 80GB?

Yea thats pretty big ours are around 40-50GB with alot of software. I'd recommend doing what ive started to do, get a base image with basic minimal software on like office and frequent used things and deploy the rest with msi and scripts

we include all software in one image and this includes windows update, so it all addes up, and we also want more room for updates and future software additions.

If your windows updates include service packs are you then clearing out old service pack files (dism command)? Can sometimes clear out a few gig
