Another one to try (for the shortest possible walk) is the overground from Clapham Junction. Don't tell too many people though, as my morning commute is bad enough as it is.

I'm coming in to Clapham Junction, then from there straight to Kensington Olympia. Seems fairly simple.

 

On the way back, I'm wandering up the road to Shepherd's Bush, taking that line down to Lancaster Gate and then wandering up to Paddington.

 

Does that all seem reasonable, as I've not been to London before...

Im coming from Kent and thats the way im coming- victoria to clapham then on to Kesington

 

avoiding the underground as i dont like down escalators!!

Clapham then Kensington for me too, coming from Portsmouth tonight so should be a nice journey.. ish

Shepherds Bush to Paddington I am sure is only a small walk (quicker than getting the tubes anyways)...not to mention lancaster gate is only central line and has no tubes going to paddington.

 

You would be better off going from Kensington to Willsden Junction then to paddington on the way back (unless you walked)

Shepherd's Bush to Lancaster gate is 2.2miles, which is about a half an hour walk for me.

 

I'd be walking from Lancaster Gate to Paddington, not getting a train...

 

Walking from Olympia to Kensington is a bit longer, and at night I'm not a fan of wandering around cities.

According to Google maps that would take over and hour on foot... it's south of the river!

 

I had a play... walking times according to Google maps

Barons Court (District Line) 13 minutes

Shepherd's Bush station (Central and Overground) 15 minutes

Hammersmith (District, Piccadily,Circle, Hammersmith & City) 17 minutes

West Kensington (District) 17 minutes

High Street Kensington (District, Circle) 20 minutes

 

Looks like Barons Court might be worth a punt

There's an overground train that runs from Clapham Junction to Kensington Olympia. The walk would be shortest because its out of the station and into the Olympia...

On Saturday when I come up. I gotta meet my brother at Paddington (I come into Charing Cross). Going from Paddington down to High Street Kensington on tube and then walking along the road. Edited January 10, 2012 by Devontechie

I will be doing the East Croydon -> Olympia journey on Southern or Overground myself come Saturday.

Shame BETT isnt a few weeks later, I could get from my new flat to Olympia in 25 mins on the Overground!

 

As it is I will be driving to Richmond as usual and then taking the train to Clapham Junction and overground to Olympia
