Work Ideas/franchise ?

Hi any one know of any good franchise type jobs as my parents in law would both like to leave employment. They are based west of Birmingham.

What kind of work are they hoping to do? I know some of the bigger food chains have franchise businesses...

Some of the franchise "products" cost more than it is worth. Ie the "chips away" is one, why not buy a company someone else is selling, it saves having to buy uniform, products etc from the company you are tied in with.

 

Depends what they want to do, I fancy doing a b+b when I can

If franchising, they would best off looking at what has been doing well (for atleast 5-8 years) in the metropolitan area's (London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol) and then going along similar lines...reason being, gives them an advantage in the market.

cleaning things that no-one else wants to clean (steam cleaning wheelie bins and ovens) seems popular around here, as does ladderless window cleaning...

But the impression I get is that a lot of franchises are pretty rotten. You could potentialy end up with less freedom, working longer hours, more responsibily and earning less then being employed. Oh and you'll probably have a large wedge invested just to top it off.

There is a Franchise fair once or twice a year which are always good.
