rshortland Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I'm thinking of getting my NAS box out or the cupboard where it has been languishing for about a year and setting it backup again now I have got my home office almost sorted and using it as a backup device for my desktop PC. The one problem I have is that Windows 7 Home Premium backup software doesn't support backing up to network drive and I don't really want to upgrade to Professional or Ultimate if I can really avoid it and I don't want to pay out for additional software if I can do it for free. I know it is possible to create a VHD drive on the nas box and attach that as a local drive but the last time I tried it it wouldn't format the VHD drive so if anyone any suggestions for a solution I would be grateful.

john Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) I use Memeo which came with my Buffalo NAS box - Automatic data backup and recovery software for your home - Memeo Premium Backup thats the paid for version with more features and newer than the bundled version but still a good product worth looking at if you don't mind spending some £'s. It auto-syncs what is selected when it changes over the LAN so works great for me Edited November 23, 2011 by john fixed typo

Admiral208 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 gfibackup 2009 home edition. Allows you to select the files you want and dont want. I use it at home to backup my stuff to my NAS box. It has the option to compress backups, encryption, incremental or differential, set schedules, and you can recieve emails to warn you if it doesnt work. And its free! Download here
