dgsmith Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I've used parcel monkey and parcel2go a few times for sending items on ebay that are a little bulky (as they are cheaper than royal mail on bigger items) however I can't seem to find a courier cheap enough to send (or indeed, arrange with a buyer to buy) large, bulky printers. Cheapest on these sites is £50+VAT although I know for certain it is cheaper than that. For instance, the large Konica Minolta printers are so heavy some couriers refuse! Can anyone offer suggestions who they use or what they expect it'd cost for items 35kg+?
jinnantonnixx Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Have a look on ebay for 'courier services'. I can't personally vouch for any of them, but when I had to send something they were recommended.
HaleStorm Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 have you seen if you can use "collect+" may require you to transport the item to a collection point though (normally a local petrol station or SPAR shop)
2097 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 ive always found parcelforce to be the cheapest for pickup on large heavy items i once sent a Car exhaust for £20 parcel2go is ok , they have failed on many collections for me !
FragglePete Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I used myparceldelivery.com a few months ago when I had to send 16 Laptops to HP, all individual parcels during their trade-in scheme. It was collected by TNT in the end and it came to about £45 for the lot. Quite impressed. Pete
carvjo Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Interparcel or collectmyparcel.com - I've used both and had no problems - for really big items get couriers to bid for the job at shiply.com
BHMS Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Another vote for interparcel. My brothers ebay business uses them for bulky and international parcels.
crc-ict Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I was going to suggest myHermes for sending big/heavy eBay stuffs, but I don't think they will take things as heavy as 35kg. The eBay Parcelforce deal through PayPal is excellent value for heavy items - upto 30kg for less than £15 on a 48 hour service. Has to be bought as a 'postage label' through PayPal for an eBay sale though. I fear that talking about 35kg+ you might be entering pallet territory...
dgsmith Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did a search for 30kg couriers on ebay and messaged a few asking whether they'd accept "up to 40kg" (to be on the safe side), and managed to negotiate £21.50 all in (taxes, fuel etc). Pretty good I think! I had never noticed that there are some local and national couriers who advertise on ebay with pretty decent rates to thanks for the heads up! I have used parcelmonkey a few times for smaller <25kg items and tend to use citylink here, though I wasn't getting any less than £60 for the above!
