Dos_Box Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) ..before it's classed as greedy? I've just had 6 Hobnobs (plain, not chocolate) and feeling a little guilty. Edited November 17, 2011 by Dos_Box
elsiegee40 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 When it comes to hobnobs.... You can't have too many (or so I keep telling myself) .... Just lay off the ones I've sent for ZH when they arrive
aerospacemango Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I can smash a packet of ginger nuts in one sitting..... Is that greedy???? Hmmmm..I think, perhaps, so!!!!
Popular Post theriver Posted November 16, 2011 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2011 Greediness is correlated with available biscuit volume. Let me explain. Here at work we once had a cake tin that was about 40cm high (it had some huge Italian cake in it to start with). As an experiment we decided to see how many packets of biscuits we could get in it - I can't remember now how many, but it was a sufficiently large number that we had to use Value ones in order to make the experiment affordable. It was a LOT. We took bets on how long the biscuits would last. Some people estimated time to completion based on an average consumption of biscuits per person per day, but those of us who have experience with doughnuts knew better. Doughnuts work like this: - someone buys some doughnuts - people help themselves - as the number of doughnuts decreases, people are less likely to take a doughnut - eventually you've one doughnut left - someone cuts it in half and takes one piece - nobody eats the final half, and it is either thrown away by the cleaner or found behind a desk several weeks hence So some of us applied the doughnut model to the biscuit tin experiment, and this proved to be correct. Half the biscuits vanished in moments, and as the days went past the number of biscuits taken per day decreased, until after quite a long time there were two and a thin film of crumbs left. Conclusions: Firstly, Value biscuits aren't too bad when dipped in tea. Secondly, people don't want to be seen as greedy, so modify their consumption based on the resource available. If there's a lot, you can have a lot; if there's not much, you should have not much. In other words: from a full packet, six hobnobs is nothing. Go on, have another. But if you take the last one, you're a greedy swine. 14
Dos_Box Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 But if you take the last one, you're a greedy swine. Ah.....
FN-GM Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 "plain, not chocolate" That makes it ok then I every now and then i will eat a full packet of foxes cream cruch in the space of 30 mins.
SimpleSi Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I believe this question has strayed into MY area of expertise For fat geeks, anything up to 1 packet/day is fine and nothing to be worried about. As long you don't exceed 5 packets a week you won't end up more than 20 stone. (Assuming a normal home diet of chips, pies, pizza, curry and beer) Once you start exceeding this amount on a regular basis - you'll end up looking like..... well ...... me Si
newpersn Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 i like the fox's Jam Ring Creams i dont share those
Oaktech Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 exactly... I don't share. I buy my own, I eat my own. DO NOT ask for one. i will growl at you.
sonofsanta Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Well I seem to have some deep-seated guilt trigger where any more than two and I start worrying that I'll ruin my lunch, or I should just have my banana instead of something. But you can always just take two every time you have a cup of tea, and when you drink as much tea as I do... well, let's just say value is the way forward here as well, at least until I can convince the bursar that the network genuinely wouldn't run without tea and biscuits therefore I should use my budget to buy them in.
teejay Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Always store the biscuits on the other side of the room, you then burn off calories walking across the room to get them, therefore more biscuits allowed:p 1
X-13 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 until I can convince the bursar that the network genuinely wouldn't run without tea and biscuits therefore I should use my budget to buy them in. Tell the bursar that the server is a finite improbability generator.
p858snake Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 It's only greedy once people start looking at you…
sonofsanta Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Tell the bursar that the server is a finite improbability generator. And that it could turn into a very surprised blue whale falling through the air at any moment?
X-13 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 And that it could turn into a very surprised blue whale falling through the air at any moment? Or a bowl of petunias.
featured_spectre Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I tend to limit myself to a maximum of 3 biscuits at a time, however the time between each 3 biscuits is short! 1

Still a sixth of your daily calories though! Yeah...but what a way to have 1/6th of the cals!!! Interestingly (for me) gingers come in at between 35 and 53 cals.....So I'm even better off!!! Must crack in with the next pack....!!!
creese Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 400 would be about right. Some fool made a Key Lime Pie and brought in here today. I resisted whilst making it but had 2 serving today, good job I'll be able to dance it off later.
