The Olympics that is meant to bring everyone (worldwide) together but we should only allow British people to carry it

 

Whether you like or dislike the idea of the Olympics etc in London (personally I'm not fussed either way), surely anyone who is worthy should be allowed to carry it. Now whether he is worthy of carrying it, that is a different matter.

We are having a school half day and one of my schools pupils is a torch bearer.

It went through my home ton Saltash on Saturday I have never seen so many people it was about 7-30 pm when it went through it was quite a spectacle however watching it being put on a bus to go across the Tamar Bridge seemed a bit strange.

Just got back from watching the Torch pass through the town. Loads of people and the number of police who have ever been here has doubled!

Yesterda we spent a very wet morning walking the 6 mile round trip, waiting for an hour at Tatton Park for the few minutes of seeing the torch. Despite it being cold and wet and teaching staff not bothering to keep order (leaving it to the TA's and other support staff) it was a good day. Topped off by an ex-student who ran with the torch today bringing it in to school, he kindly posed for pictures and allowed several of us to hold it.

As an update to my earlier post, Mrs RAD did indeed run with the torch through Broadstairs, Kent on 19th July, here is a picture already hosted:

The atmosphere was amazing and I am glad I was able to watch the relay, even more so her running it. I was able to take the torch into school the following day, as it was still "special" was kept to staff pictures only. A few of our "olympic leaders" got the chance to have their picture taken. Oh and for you guys who are clever, there is another picture the worlds media have the pleasure of purchasing that I appear in, I am not putting it here though!!

Lucky Mrs RAD - what did she do to get the chance to run with the torch?

 

She is a Outdoor instructor teaching youth and adults sailing, windsurfing etc. She has trained youth sailors to compete in the London Youth Games finishing in the top 3 for the previous 4 years. Some of her work is voluntary so it's been good to see her work rewarded. The day was amazing, it had such a good buzz to it, the moment she got off the torch bearers bus, everyone wanted a picture taken standing next to her.
