featured_spectre Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I applied for a job as an IT Analyst for Advertising at Facebook 15 minutes ago (20:30 by my laptop) and I already have an email saying they wish to give me a telephone interview tomorrow! Those guys are like lightning! Applied for a laugh to be honest as I didn't meet some of the criteria but will be interesting to see how this pans out!

So its 5000 requests a day per office, something like 20 offices world wide...so that's 100'000 requests daily that are dealt with in terms of abuse/bullying/spam etc. There is "apparently" a backlog of about 3 weeks or so unless things get reported more than 100 times in a 2 or 3 days

featured_spectre Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 I have an interview in the London office tomorrow morning, was told to wear smart casual and not to have breakfast (odd requests but looking at the working conditions, jeans and tshirt seem to be the norm for facebook and they have onsite cafeterias open 24 hours). Wish me luck! lol

What you wear if you get the job is another matter, but for the interiew you do need to be a little more presentable! You just don't need to wear a suit and tie. A smart polo shirt would be fine, T-Shirts unless they're brand new,ironed and without a massive logo or picture wouldn't be classified as smart casual either! Sorry if I sound like your Mum. featured_spectre Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Well I went down in black trainers, trousers and edugeek tshirt as I said, and they said I looked good, some of the other applicants turned up in jeans and a white tshirt with white trainers. I said smart = belt and trousers, casual = black trainers and polo shirt (edugeek tshirt). Didnt look too shabby. I know why they said not to have breakfast, the cafe gave us an absolutely massive full english (if on a diet they sorted it accordingly) so I had no hash browns or fried slice, and got my bacon and eggs etc grilled rather than fried. As I had no hash browns, beans or toast, they loaded up on the bacon and sausages. If I went to a cafeteria normally I would have paid about a tenner for that!! The interview itself was interesting and a bit odd, they asked more about my family and social life than my ability to perform. Spent the first half hour (my interview was at 8) talking about my family, home life, things like that, then 15 mins or so on my ability to do the job. If I am honest I don't think I got it, but it was a great experience nonetheless, and they gave me the chance to meet and greet people there and ask about the job, they pulled no punches back and told me honestly it was a great job but demanding. As they are on FB all the time they are sick of it, but everyone has met Mark Zuckerberg at a staff function apparently, be it christmas do, or staff meetings etc. He holds a christmas do for everyone at the company and he pays for everything, last years tab allegedly came to £50k for the UK staff do, and that was before putting them up in a hotel (with spouses catered for as well). I am glad I went and would love a job, but like I said, I don't think I got it.

featured_spectre Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 If I get it I will be happy, can work from home 2 days a week, 8:30am start 4:30pm finish, direct train from here to the office (well i have to get to nearest station to me)...and all food/drink covered...whats not to like! lol

featured_spectre Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 If i get it, its £35k, basically analysing the reports of clicked ads etc and working out which ads are most popular and where and targeting more ads based on location and type of ads. Also get early access to all facebook "updates" as and when they are released to the company. Its the employees who basically say yay or ney to updates as well.
