I should be taking my Microsoft 270 XP exam tomorrow...Any ideas on what I can expect?

I know XP pretty much inside out but the command line switches are throwing me a little!

If you know xp pretty much inside out you should have no problems with it as long as you have put some study time in you should have no problems. Good luck with it anyway and let us know how you got on.

Didn't do it yet, the company who are letting me do it won't let me anywhere near it until I get bang on 85% on one of the MeasureUp mock exams :(.

I keep trying to tell them the actual pass rate will be 700 and I always perform worse in mocks but they are having none of it!

Hoping to take it on Friday now :)

Hiya

Ive passed this exam, the things to look out for are:

sysprep

different ways to install xp (network and from cd) and the switches used.

think thats about it really.

Good luck

Did this (and passed) today.. :D

Was suprised to see a few things such as RIS (hell.. where was that in the "official" M$ course?)

Cant really go into much detail because of the NDA etc.. just make sure you know about hardware profiles, offline files and encryption, RIS (of course) and disk configuration

Good luck you will wing it - I have about 2 more to do before I get my MCSE cant wait :D

Yea I'm on a training course (The way it runs is very complicated to explain)

I have got a blue 270 book sat in front of me but it dosen't really help me.

Having taken them all I need to tell you the one thing that catches most people out:

The MS books do NOT cover everything in the exam.

You need to do at least 50% more reading on top of that. The gotchas on most of the exams are the command line switches, as most people always use the gui and rarely the command line people say they know the OS inside out when in fact they don't and this is what gets them the fail.

3pm tomorrow :D

I should hopefully be fine with the content, hopefully it dosen't have too many 'Select x options. Each represent...' questions as those are the ones that usually throw me!

I'm hoping to do my 218 and 290 soon which would give me MCSA status, although might take me longer to study for these as I could be in employment from next week and you don't really get server knowledge from small home networks :D

Have you considered doing any other vendor based certification? Cisco or Novell for example?

I'm on a training scheme who are paying for a lot of these exams (and the training, although I self taught myself the 270!) so not at the moment, although if I find a need during employment I could consider it.

I do have Network+

Think I'm doing pretty well though considering I'm between the age of 18 and 19
