To be totally honest (and I think this has been mentioned before) surely the time would be better invested in making the mobile site better?

With so many platforms out there (iOS, BlackBerry, Android and WP7) it seems like a lot of work would be needed to cater for everyone where a decent mobile site and maybe an improvement to email notifications would serve all platforms much better.

I think the problem is that ZH posts on edugeek about twice a year and uses a quad xeon ,332GB RAM, eight 6000x4000 LCD Screen setup and doesn't see what the problem is :)

LOL..Zerohour and I spoke about the possibility of this a while back, and the consensus was, designing an App that fits all platforms is a lot of work, then add on top updates for each app as needed, a team of full time coders for iOS, Android, Blackberry (RIM), WPx (any variant of Windows phone) or Nokia OVI. Not feasible for now, so the best thing is to use the mobile version of the site :)

But the mobile version of the site is poor (and took a very long time to arrive) - and you know what us edugeekers think of poor software/sites :)

I have sympathy but at the same time I've been quite disapointed with the site gui - someone with design skills is needed to sort it out and not a bunch of geeks :)

And of course, I'm availble 24/7 to offer "construcive crictisim" :)

PS Auto spull currector would be high on my list

Out of curiosity, what's your biggest issues with the mobile site?

Thanks,

If you have some major problems with the mobile site, flag them up because i am sure if they are an easy fix @ZeroHour would sort it to make things easier until the Mobile Apps are designed.

He is working on them... :-) and everyone will know more as and when the time is right. :-)

I quite like the simplicity of the mobile site

I decide what's simple or not around here :)

mmmm :)

I find that NON of my problems are a priority :)

(But to be fair - ZH has said there is something on the way for me :) - I'm hoping for statuary Comic Sans MS as the forum font! :) )

In seriousness, the buttons are too small for me on my phone (HTC Desire) and non-ability to get to last post is probably the most blatent UI issue.

I would think that the mobile version of the site could have a twitter-like page so you can easily see what's going for instance.

I don't know what the price/data transparancy of this forums software is so that's might be a valid defence -so be it - but it doesn't stop me wanting what I want :)

I'm a JDI person :)

to get to the last post, you click the thread title and it takes you there...

Isn't that last unread post? I know the "Last post" button is broke, from the search pages anyway.

I was certainn that you couldn't do that

Maybe it was introduced without me noticing.

But in practice - its irrelavent to me - I just tried post a message from my mobile - typed in a subject and message and pressed submit - nothings arrived :( (did it twice - nothing - just sits on my post :(

Just trying to reply now

[edit from main comp]

well it worked but literally took me 4 attempts - it kept coming up with either the attachement menu or took me back to editing the text - It was very tricky to get it to accept that I wanted to press the Submit button (which was probably my problem with my new thread attempt a few mins ago

- the point is - mobile experience isn't good :(

I quite regularly post using my iPhone and have no problems at all, even now :)

Using latest iOS (not betas) with the builtin safari browser, granted I'm usually on wifi but never seem to have issues on 3G either
