Any one had problems installing this ?

Decided to install it on the DB server .

seemed to have gone on/installed ok ..

installed the client , and tried to run the config tool and it wont let me login . just says invalid login

The actual discover client software ( not the config) says unknown error on opening below the input box's

Does the software require a reboot after installtion for it to work ?

Ive noticed theres a scheduled task that runs at 1am , it says it has ran already .

Any services i should reboot ? or anything like that

Many thanks

Luke

It shouldn't need a restart; I went through the SIMS Discover install process on our SIMS server yesterday afternoon and once installed, I was able to log into the Discover Configuration Utility (and Discover thereafter) with my usual SIMS username and password upon completion. However, I've just installed the Discover client on a laptop to test and I'm unable to log onto either Discover or the config utility with my details! It pops up with "Unknown error occurred during logon" ...

So it works on the server, but not on a laptop/workstation! Awesome! :(

Just reinstalled Discover on the laptop and it now works! :D The only thing I did differently was 'validate' the Discover & SIMS DB paths ...

I just tried this again on another laptop and now the installer states that it cannot find the paths ... Urgh!

The Discover sync service needs to be correctly configured on the server. If you are not using the same server/SQL db as SIMS you might be in for a world of pain with user permission to get the service to run properly. You won't be able to login to Discover unless the sync service has run and got the valid logon creditials copied over from the main SIMS db.

Also you may need to check your SIMS.ini file. Should be in C:\Windows and contain:

SIMSDiscoverDirectory=C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\Discover Client\

(or 32bit equiv)

Also noticed that it Discover doesn't seem to run on a Terminal Server :(

Did you use basic or advanced mode

Are the services running

Did you get any errors on install

Check the install log (Discover.Setup.Server log)

Cheers! This did the trick ... I copied the SIMS.ini from the working laptop to the laptop that did not work; even though the installer cannot validate the DB paths, if you continue and attempt to run Discover afterwards, it works! lol

Discover should run on Terminal Services. Please log a call if you need help as this is way beyond my skillset!

Aye, it's running on our Centrally hosted SIMS environment. :)

Recently had a problem with discover not working and turned out to be yet another config file that needs to be manually copied from a working computer.

I found it in C:\ProgramData\Discover\Discover.Designer.Desktop.exe.local.config

Copied across and now working perfectly.
