We have a 600 series SMART Interactive Board, with a bootloader error (Orange/Amber Flashing Status Light). After working with these for 10 years, this is the first one I have seen.

I cant seem to get any connection to the board either, and have tried multiple cables, laptops, and even bypassing the wiring loom to no avail.

Is there any manual way to flash it, or is it a replacement board?

How long is the warranty on the board as if we can get it replaced under warranty, then that would be great.

Thanks,

iv had the same problem in my school. nobody seemed to be able to fix it, they just wanted to sell me a board. spoke to smart tech directly and you can get a replacement "control module" its easy to fit and fixed 8 of my smartboards.

this was for calibration error

Just for everyones reference...You can update the firmware if there is a bootloader error. You just need to run the SMARTFirmware Updater Appwhich is within the SMART Product Drivers Directory on the client workstation.

Hope this saves anyone some money!

I know this is an old thread but it came up during a search for this issue and I fixed the problem using some extra steps from the last response provided.

The power went off during a firmware update of my 800 Series board. I had the yellow flashing light.

This is what I did:

Connected a USB cable to the board from my computer. Normally my boards are connected to the computer using Cat5e cabling and the CAT5-XT module in the pen tray.

Run SmartFirmwareUpdater.exe which is located under "C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers" on a Windows 7 x64 system.

The utility will show the board as being current on it's firmware and will let you check the box but the Next button will be grayed out. Press Shift-Ctrl-F.

This will allow you to select the board and click Next to proceed. The board will show an IP address under the Current Version column. When I went to proceed, I got an error that the Firmware failed to update and a button to retry. Just clicking Retry gave the same result. While at this screen, I unplugged the USB cable then plugged it back in, waiting for the Windows sounds indicating a device was unplugged, then plugged back in. Then I clicked Retry and the firmware updated normally.

Not sure this will work for everyone but it worked for me. Hope this helps someone.

Hi All

I think i have the same problem with one of mine, but i am unable to get it to connect to the PC, so when i run the firmware updater, or the connection wizard, it can't find anything. Any Ideas

Hey jallsop did you ever find a solution to your Smartboard issue? I just had one do the same thing. It flashes a green light when connected, but the PC never sees it. If I press the little reset button on the side the PC will act like its connected but the light just flashes amber and the connection wizard sees a device but has a message about the bootloader. When I tried the firmware updater it failed to find a device. Sounded like we had a very similar experience just thought I'd see if you'd found any fix before I sunk too much time in troubleshooting this thing.
