How much success are you having at getting into your e-mail now?

It's really strange here. I can access e-mail perfectly fine via firefox, but via internet explorer, the page just either completely or half fails to load. After several hard refreshes in IE, I can eventually make the page legible, but still not loading properly.

I just don't understand. Why would the page load perfectly in firefox? I suspect it is something to do with the imimic cache server, but wouldn't that affect firefox too? :?

The webmail used to work perfectly in Opera and Firefox, but not at all in Konqueror. Following the recent change, it works fine in Konqueror and Firefox but not in Opera. I use a mail client and avoid these problems...

The problem with the core proxy is now resolved

Also we have come across an issue Windows 2000 and IE 5.5 and mymail pages not loading after the latest servicepacks (57 & 58 ) was applied .

The fix is to upgrade to IE6 SP1

we had our staff laptops setup so that their email is picked up with outlook 2003. The app is setup to launch at startup so they get their mail as soon as they log on. The staff pigeon holes have become alot less quiet and staff also find the system useful for the calender feature of outlook too.

The sina interface is a major improvement though, long overdue!

But to be honest anybody still using IE5 with W2K needs a good talking too! The amount of open attack vectors for that peice of MS software is longer then I want to spend time reading!

Right time for....... :drinkers:

@Ben

We have received a lot of visitors from the BGfL site today and I was absolutely shocked at the amount of people who still use 800X600 resolution on windows 98. I don't even have a windows 98 computer to test my website out on... I just hope it renders okay. I know it doesn't work brilliantly in 800X600, but it is still useable (just has a few pixels worth of horizontal scrolling which is annoying).

Does anyone have a win98 pc to test it for me? http://www.theovalprimary.co.uk

There's plenty of online testing sites for checking website compatability in odd/rare browser/OS combinations. I'm sure someone posted one a while back infact. I'll see if I can track the thread down.

I remember someone posting a site that does screenshots, but that wasn't good enough. Ther are other things I need to test.

As for the BGfL e-mail... the teachers hate it. The deputy head is phoning up link2ict to complain. For starters, there doesn't appear to be any group options for sending e-mail (group teaching etc.) There also doesn't appear to be any way to select all of your e-mail, you have to select each one manually.

Some of us need to use 800x600 otherwise we can't read whats on our screens.

In regards to BGfL e-mail being down, it has been down most of this week. Does anyone know if e-mails will still have been received? Is it just that we cannot log in or are the mail servers down completely? There is certain e-mails I should have received by now that I really need to read when it comes back up again.

In response to _BAt_ same complaint from our staff re : loss of quick send etc. However dumping a staff list from CMIS as a CSV and importing into address book seems to have stopped a few grumbles...Just tick the boxes ;-)

JUst an update for those who don't know (I'm sure you already do by now though) there was an issue with the update and it still hasn't been resolved. BGfL are in talks with netmedia trying to get them to issue a fix, but no luck so far. Apparently it's not just Birmingham... people who use netmedia all over the world are suffering.

So thats why so extremely dodgy e-mail service since the holidays.

Are the problems send and recieve related or just the online interface?

We forward all mail to our exchange box and don't seem to be having any problems. (Well - noone has said anything yet! :) )
