Janyo Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Hi there, Our school needs to replace 6 projectors with better brightness ones which is not a problem. The problem is mounting the new projectors to our old brackets as those brackets were custom made for the old projectors. Just to stress that it's only the plate or the bracket that needs changing not the actual pole which is suspended from the ceiling. The old company that did the job doesn't exist anymore and the new one I asked for some help quoted me £140 for the new mounts!!! surely, this can't be the price for a piece of metal with 3 or 4 screws?! thanks
localzuk Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Are the mounts a brand like Unicol or similar?
localzuk Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Unicol mounting plates and brackets are very expensive - the plate + collar for a Casio projector cost my old school £100+ IIRC. However, the poles are standard 50mm I think, so this sort of thing would fit - Ra Technology Ra4 Ra4 Universal Projector Mount Swivel and Tilt Articulation Connects Directly to 50mm or 2 Column - Brackets & Mounts - Av Solutions
Janyo Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 thanks a lot...that's very useful info!
bigjb Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 We use the Sahara Universal Mounting kit throughout the school. Fits all of our projectors. Sahara Presentation Systems > 1m Ceiling Mount Kit - Pearl Grey

3s-gtech Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I have several Unicol mounts which were bought with specific plates for projectors. Those projectors have just come up for replacement, so I've bought some universal projector mounts, (Vogels VPC545 or similar), unbolted the old cage, and adapted the new mount onto it. Main reason for doing this was the poles actually go up into the ceiling, cables and all, and I didn't fancy having to unbolt the struts they're mounted on in the roof space

At my last school we had 15 of them, projectors had to be taken down to clean filter.

That is the one downside to those units if your filters slide out My techy hates them for that exact reason but as a mount they are great and well built and good value

john Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 but if used with casio's they don't need much cleaning just the nec one i have which is a pita to clean! Indeed and snap with the NECs, the solution is to vacuum the filters in-situe
