same as dosbox, i've been doing that for years, much easier when selecting things. the annoying bit is when you try to triple click, click four times by mistake and then think "i'll triple click again" and end up clicking about 15 times before you actually get what you want!

We all did it - but who knew it was a feature and not a bug :)

Show me where is says

"To move to a postion, move mouse and click, to select a word, double-click, to select the whole paragraph, triple click"

in the manual :)

Also used it for years - more so in browser address bars than office, where I find it the easiest/quickest way to select the entire address line (after falling in the 15 click trap mentioned above and clicking too quickly past the initial click which selects all anyway... :)

I first saw this in 1996 when I was working at the launch of Corel's first new version of WordPerfect (v7) and triple clicking was one of the new whizzy features.

The presenter actually made a (sort of) joke by asking if anyone could guess what happened if you clicked 4 times...answer...you get a sore finger...

[edit] It is also one of the things I show users and I don't think I have found one who realised that it is a deliberate feature [/edit]

damn you, i was going to ask if anyone has tried clicking 4 times to see what happens and see how many go off and do it :p

This is the reason I stopped using it, clickity clickty clickity :( ... If I'm using word I tend to use the left hand margin or shortcut keys these days.

I'm suprised that people did not know what it was called, it does seem like a standard progression:

single click

double click

triple click

it is obvious when you think about it, I had just never considered that it was something that was used widely enough to have been "named" (I only ever used it in Word)
