Yep. Labs full of physics kit, theatre lights and IT / AV in classrooms. Fluke 6500, it ain't cheap, but has programmable tests that numpties can use, yet pass levels can be changed to allow for thin/long cables on the fly by competent users.

We do it in-house and I bought one of these the other year - Seaward Europa Plus PAT Tester great tool just a shame I have to keep reminding the site staff how to work it as its not that hard!

we used to but cutting an IT tech means we have outsourced - as paying for the pat testers to come in each year is cheaper then the it tech -and we can cope with all the other work with just 2 of us apart from pat testing as we simply don't have the time now in the holidays.

Handwrite them due to cost of the test and tag kit, but longer term I aim to get that kit, keeping an eye out on eBay for one One other way is my local graphic place can do me sheets of pre-printed labels with initials, most of the date and re-test dates pre-done on them, so I just fill in the initials of the tester (as theres a few of us that do it), date of test and ID number and re-test date so speeds things up a bit, if your organised and knew you were doing it solid for a week I'd even get them pre-done with your initials and dates etc then its just write the ID number on them and stick them on and go.

Snap, I haven't done any all year actually, in-fact I must send the unit off for calibration as its expired.....

We do our own PAT testing and we print our own lables too which contains the sentence "property of x school". Works out a lot cheaper than buying labels.
