Floppy Drive Recovery

Any ideas on how to get data from a dead floppy disk, my machine tells me windows wants to format it yet i keep instructing windows to **** ***, i have had a look in command prompt and can see the data iam sure there are some good programs for free out there that will do the job i just find the dodgey shareware ones

 

so any suggestions would be gratefully recieved

scandisk checking errors dies and closes the window its self i will give flopshow a try

Likewise Leon, I have found this tool to be exceptionally good at recovering lost files from corrupted floppies. If all else fails with recovering filename it will recover the file but give it a file1.doc type name and you can sift through them to find the ones you want to recover afterwards. Cheap, cheerful and easy to use.

Not that I get the chance to use it much these days. Alot of our floppy drives have god knows what stuck in them (*tsk* don't you love some pupils attitude to IT kit), and theres little call to swap them out as they never get used. Can't say I miss them ;-).
