TechSupp Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Ages ago someone posted (or even PM'd me!) up a link to a site of a company selling VW Campervans, now I want to look at it, cant find it anywhere! Anyone help. Done a search on the forum but turned up nothing.
oalcock Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I would like one of these also! Are they reliable? Is insurance cheap?
featured_spectre Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 My parents have one, they are awesome! Insurance is about £45 a month for theirs (they are both insured on it and have 25 years no claims), and they use it every summer. They use it to pull a caravan along and have the caravan for the facilities (fridge, toilet, oven/cooker etc) and storage and they use the campervan to sleep in and go touring if they park up the caravan at a camp site or something. I like it as it is surprisingly comfortable to sleep in.
Iain.Faulkner Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I've got one (see pics) :-) Ours costs less than £400 per year to insure, that includes full european breakdown cover. We've used ours plenty this year and she's been very reliable for us. She has the odd quirk, but then I think they all do :-) They don't half cost a fortune to maintain though! We got ours on ebay :-)

laptopsandspares Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Isn't going to be much help right now, but I've seen an add a number of times in the rear of Autotrader mag (maybe on the site too?) I get southern/thames valley but I imagine they'll advertise in all of them. In fact, why not have a nose on the AT site and filter for trade sellers. One of them is bound to make a career out of it Or VW Camper Crazy | Volkswagen Campers For Sale | VW Campers For Sale | Buy a VW Camper | Sell a VW Camper | Find a VW Camper The VW Camper Company Ltd 2011 There's a load of companies hiring them out too. john Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 You missed a great VW show over the last couple of weekend where you could have stuck lucky with some contacts, there was the VW meet at Harewood house Leeds this weekend just gone and the previous one was VWNW at Tatton Park, certainly Tatton is a big meet for the VW Camper people and traders for them its really impressive how well they do. You can find them online in various places, and enthusiast forums are a good place to look as well I find. Danbury Motor Caravans - Danbury Motorcaravans - WELCOME maybe a good one as well
garethEds Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Well Well Well, I work 2 mins from there and never knew it existed. GJE

Gatt Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Used to love the VW Campervan we had as a kid, though I dread to think how much it costs for Deisel these days, as I recall it was one heck of a guzzler and only did about 3 miles to the gallon!

bondbill2k2 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 go for a classic insurance policy and save laods, they are great but youll spend a fortune for a splitty, might get myself another <70s beetle later in the year as a project for next summer
rad Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Can you post the enlinkment? The search doesn't work for non-members. Cut a long story short. Oh parents went to factory of above d c company, the shells have some rust already before they start, you get a 1.4 petrol engine only,.they cost a bomb and they don't let you test drive unless you book a weekday slot. For 30k you can get a nice top wacky split screen camper that will hold its value
bondbill2k2 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Best place to look is VZI, dozens every day up for sale Vehicles For Sale - VZi, Europe's largest VW, community and sales
