is anyone planning on getting this for the PC?

In the E3 demo they show that you basically connect to an online server and players can drop in and out to help each other. if that's the case, i'm looking for some people to crack some zombie skulls with from here. i think it said up to 4 can do stuff at any time in a group.

the graphics of the e3 demo weren't amazing (compared to some others) but if its gta with zombies, i'm in!

I was considering it but now I've seen some reviews of it I'll probably not bother.

Sounds like it needs a few patches to address clipping and performance issues.

Fun looking game all the same though.

I'm now umm'ing and aaah'ing about whether to play online. I have it and wanted to play offline a bit to get the feel of it and its sort of a mix between Fallout 3 and Left4Dead.

The problem is its taken some of the bad parts of each. It's good fun, but just doesn't feel like the game i was first expecting.

i mean I understand weapons will degrade, get in the habit of repairing. But how can a machete "degrade" after a few hits....is the metal actually rubber or something?

I also don't like the sort of power up thing you get. my character can now stomp on someones head and it will pop in two stomps, hardly a realistic attitude. same goes for the sharp weapons, i can cut someones head off in one stroke.

dont get me wrong, i do enjoy it, and will probably play online at some point, but right now it can be slightly irritating

I got my xbox pre order last week and have been enjoying it so far, i like the fact that a well aimed swipe with a meat cleaver will take off a limb or a head! though when the zeds are alot higher level its not so easy to do! by far the most challeneing ones are the "infected" they are the ones 28days later esque who sprint at you, so when you get 4-5 comign for you it can get a bit tense! fighting the Thugs is great fun, use a blunt weapon to break their arms and they are no longer a threat :) easy picking and great xp!

Yes weapon degradation is a pain but investing in upgrades and mods makes them last alot longer, the better weapons are found in the metal cases so make sure you level up your lock picking skills :)

Few hours in now and hit lvl16 with out really doing much and still on act 2

multiplayer is good fun also adds alot more zombies to the mix

How Fallout-esque is it? Got into Fallout 3 before and loved it, getting back into Oblivion now as well. Soundslike a fun game and with it being out on PS3 too, I may splash the cash and buy it if it's good.

I loved Fallout 3 also and only recently purchased Fallout: New Vegas. It was a worthy purchase. I have sunk 35 hours into it already! Great game.

I didn't go down the lockpick route. I'm going down the brute force route. I think I'm about level 22/23, but it is getting harder to kill one or two of them.

And don't think the thugs are disabled once you do their arms in, get too close and they headbutt you instead. I've modded a few weapons, got the toxic and shocking machete. I also picked up a lethal machete that is really powerful, and also a massive axe that just carves through them.

Have gone with Sam B and doing the power route so I can now stomp on their heads to kill them and turn on fury to go into a mad rage (killing thugs in two or three punches).

I'm now on Act 3 (I think)....so won't spoil anything. It is a bit weird that even when playing alone the cutscenes show four of you there, then disappear to one :p

all the thugs can do with broken/no arms is bite which is alot easier to avoid than their big punches that send you flying! :)

headbutt/bite, same thing :p

I can see the game is still quite buggy in areas, getting stuck in clipped areas, certain AI and path issues....still fun though. Is it multi platform or PC plays with PC only etc? Just wondering if we'd have enough for an Edugeek rampage team :D

not cross platform, alot of games should be but none are, 4 player coop is certainly fun just moshing about hunting them zeds!

not had to many issues with bugs, i play alot of rpg sandbox games so they are by the by these days, only big bug ive seen was one where you had to rescue a woman but she wouldnt follow us, then when we arrived back at the lifeguard station she appeard outside the gate then suddenly was in the car!

yeah i think as far as bugs go there aren't massive ones, but some of the smaller ones do annoy me at times. the voice acting is hilarious at times too, i mean just recently i've been in a police station on a remote island (presumably near oz judging by most accents) and there was a scouser working in the police force there. not saying it wouldn't happen but was just funny with all the other accents to just have a scouser sat there!

ok now its starting to annoy me. the game was clearly not made for single player play at all.

if you die, you resurrect after a few seconds just away from the action, minus some cash and the degradation of the weapons you already racked up. the problem is if its a section that is nigh on impossible, you end up being sent back to the same spot to keep going again and again as your weapons waste away and your money disappears until no weapon is useful.

the section im in at the moment im escorting someone and he likes to attack zombies too. so we have a thug, a butcher and about 5 or 6 walkers all come toward us. he goes to fight thug, dies in a few seconds, game over, start that bit again....next time he goes to fight walkers, i fight thug, butcher attacks me so walkers kill guy. start again. next time he fights butcher so i fight thug, guy dies and start again. it goes on and on and all the time your weapons are degrading, bullets are going, so in the end im left with no weapons to use, and no way out as this guy will ALWAYS rush to a zombie to fight it, so if he rushes to the thug, you have to as well to protect him. if he rushes to walkers you have to kill the butcher before he gets to him, if he rushes to the butcher you have to kill butcher and walkers before the thug makes his way over.

obviously if 2 or more players are there its easy as one takes each zombie and clears them while protecting old eejit in the middle, but single player its pretty much not happening

an update went out for xbox yesterday, have you checked for a patch?

update to correct what? as it doesn't appear to be a bug, just a sort of poorly designed section of the game.

i'm on steam so ill have a look tonight

Got this over the weekend. So far, I'm really enjoying it. Think I'm level 6 now. A bit disappointed with the lack of firearms at the moment, I'd like a gun or two, however beating zombies to a pulp is still good fun. :)

Edit: How catchy is the intro music to that awesome video? I can't help but hum it to myself every now and again! "Who do you voodoo *****!"

I had to start again as I didn't read the bio's too well so chose the blunt weapons guy but have been using sharp weapons....so wasting it.

restarted with the woman who does sharp weapons now. think i'm level 19 or so.

it is far more enjoyable with melee weapons rather than guns, plus with guns, by the time you reload, if you haven't dropped them chances are you are dead :)

Well, i decided to get my xbox out of storage, popped over to gamestation with a pile of games I've no space for anymore - £130 of trade in, and they didn't have it in stock!!!! Spent 1-2 hours checking stock at other game places as I was desperate to play, but its sold out everywhere! :-(

I did reserve a copy though, so should get hold of it some time this week!

Really enjoying this still, game definately gets alot harder once you reach the city, great fun playing it through with mates, not so great playing with random people who join your game as they tend to run off and start doing quests so you end up missing out on alot of story lines!

One element i dont like, and i didnt like in Oblivion/fallout is the leveling of the enemy/zombies, in traditional rpg games you would not have this auto leveling. you would have low cr creatures in the early ares who would remain low cr even though you lvl up, you would then one hit kill them in these areas but get little to no xp and like wise there would be hard/impossible areas to go because of high cr rating beasties where you would get rewarded for going to these places.

but i guess thats a little too d&d for most gamers..

i have to agree. also the fact that the zombies you meet in other areas (like the suicider) suddenly start to appear in the first areas that you have been round countless times. if they had the resort as all lower level zombies, and they are say levels 1-10 only, then next area is levels 11-20 etc. so whatever area you are in will coincide with your skill. if you travel to levels 35-45 and you are level 5, tough, its your own fault. :)

so, is there anybody with a PC version that fancies joining up to do some missions? i really dont want any numpty joining.....like last night when a guy joined and all he wanted to do was just ride up and down in the car running zombies over. not bothered at all about playing the game, he just wanted to drive around and ignore everyone else
