Xbox and Xbox Live

Hi all.....

 

Just after a bit of advice....

 

I recently bought an original xbox, with a bunch of games, for £10 off a mate (Good deal, methinks!)

 

However, when it comes to connecting to xbox live, I can get through to t'internet, but Live is not connecting.

 

Did they close down Live to the original xbox, or am I missing a trick here?

 

(It has picked up an IP, so I know it can see out!)

 

Any advice is gratefully received!!!

I believe it was turned off for the original Xbox a while back.

It makes a good media centre. Thats what I am using my old xbox for.

by media centre do you mean an extender to win7 or a standalone box?

Just a stand alone box. Got Xbox Media Centre on it, quite an old version now but it works. Plays most video formats found on the web and DVD's as well.

XBMC is no longer supported on Xbox... you could find an old build out here tho

+1 for xbmc.

 

Softmod it, stick a bigger drive in, rip dvds, copy games to the drive for faster loads (and no lost discs).

 

All the howtos were on t'web, problem comes when pages get old and disappear.
