Sorry but you should see 3 year olds use iOS devices. Might chage your point if view.

My daughter 2.5 will blow yOu away what she can do on mine.

If you ask a child, she might call it magic....in the same way me pulling my thumb off is magic

to most people when you get down to it almost any technology may as well be magic. You do a "spell" to turn the tv on but msot people (me included) have little to no idea how it works (beyond the very basic) exactly how a signal translates into a red pixel for instance is beyond me and tbh i have no need to know. Even something much simpler like a toaster or a light bulb when you get down to it it works because ive turned it on (yes i think i know both are basically something to do with resistance making wires heat up)

As arthuir c clark said any sufficiently advanced technology is indistingushible from magic. Apples brand is just shineyer and more expensive

Have you seen the Blackberry TV advert? Queen singing flash while Blackberry do a good I-pad bashing. lol.

yep, although again they go OTT on the advert compared to real life. Don't they say something like you can do all this at the same time, showing you playing a game, watching a movie, editing a document, etc. yet screenshots show it has about 400mb of ram free to do all this!

Yeah, the apple adverts wind me up a little bit too.....If you dont have an iPhone, well you dont have an iPone. Really? That because I dont want one. I dont like the adverts which are basically saying it's flashy and everyone has one so you should too. I want to know what a device can do and then I will make my mind up if I would like one.

If they actually gave an example of why the iPad was all of these things in the adverts perhaps I would listen. Instead I feel like I am being treated like someone who cant think for themselves and must buy something because it's cool(and expensive).

Edit: But you're right, there are lots of adverts doing the rounds at the moment...times like this when I'm glad I dont watch a lot of TV :)

Well at least its not as mind-numbingly patronising as the Win advert when they turn someones house into a store.

That one has to be in the running for worst advert of the century!

Si

not to mention wasteful if her old pc works and does what she needs to do fast enogh for her why replace it?

What about Google's "Dear Sophie" advert? Your child's life stored on their servers from the moment they are born! :)

I actually quite like that advert, because regardless of what you think of google storing your data, it is giving you ideas about the possibility of what you can do with the technology.

I've been saying this for years!!!

Like, how DO the radio waves get picked up, and translated into a voice? How does the telly KNOW that it should be blue just THERE? Why, when the pixels inside my PC screen is either OFF or ON, does it play the most amazing games? How DOES the stereo reproduce such beautiful music from a piece of vinyl and a needle?

I DO know the theory behind it all....but to be honest? I think it's ALL magic!!!!!

All these questions, and more....After the break!!!

Same here. It's the 'new' way of having a photo diary of their childhood. A neat idea i think. Whether i'd want to store the data on googles servers i don't know but the idea of doing a digital diary like that is pretty cool.

I could use my Amstrad CPC running BASIC at 2 year old. IMO kids aren't limited by their abilities, but rather by their parents expectations.

Too many folk don't see any issue with this. It scares the life out of me.

I agree.

Where's the book of family photos Grandad.....you know, the photos of the last 30 years showing Mam and Dad getting married and us kids being born etc??

Advanced technology is really indistinguishable from magic

I have to say, the Apple hate on forums such as this is just stupid. I highly doubt this topic would have been made if it was any other brand advertising the same product, even using the same advert.

I couldn't talk properly at 2 years old :(

Nah, people make fun of all sorts of brands. Like me, I make fun of the Blackberry Playboy... err.. Playbook.

I dont think it's just apple, but I do think they have particularly bad adverts at the moment(or maybe it's that I've just watched more TV?) But anything geeky with a dodgy advert is going to get made fun of on here because of the type of people who access this website.
