creese Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 So, no big bangs or mass assents to heaven last weekend. Own up, who spent all their savings and gave away all their possessions? Has anyone seen Cliff?
creese Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Well a volcano did go boom.... Not quite how I expect the end of the world. 'Some believers expressed bewilderment or said it was a test from God of their faith, after the day passed without event. Meanwhile, the evangelist at the centre of the claim, Harold Camping, has not been seen since before the deadline.' BBC News - 'Rapture': Believers perplexed after prediction fails Maybe him and Cliff are the only ones to go.
jamesb Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I was sitting at home with an axe and chainsaw, waiting for the zombies. Very disappointed when they didn't turn up.
CHR1S Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 centre of the claim, Harold Camping /this *plays loony tunes theme*
SteveT Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I was sitting at home with an axe and chainsaw, waiting for the zombies. Very disappointed when they didn't turn up. Got a staffroom full of 'em here!!! )
localzuk Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 It amazes me that people fall for this stuff. There are people who sold their homes, spent all their savings etc... because of it. Seriously, people who believe this sort of thing should be looked at by psychiatrists...
aerospacemango Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I was actually taken by the rapture... I'm currently typing this on the iPod Touch....Therefore, I COULD send the Apple Tracking Data to someone, and they'd be able to see exactly which cloud I'm on....and probably my harp too. However, no point sending it to Steve Jobs, as he won't be able to do anything with it....probably....at least, unless he gives it to his minion....Satan!
MK-2 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 'Some believers expressed bewilderment or said it was a test from God of their faith, after the day passed without event. i love the catchall statement. so basically if it happened then see, we told you so, god is punishing non believers. if it doesn't happen, see we told you god was testing our belief to make the non believers believe. and yet science is the one they frown upon as no proof!!

I know that there's a commandment about not testing God - surely there should be some professional courtesy extended with no testing of believers either?
