mac_shinobi Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Can't convince or get anyone from Impero aka Russ to attend ? 1
Dos_Box Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 The problem we have is that we have the exhibitors, who are mainly made up of the companies speaking at the conf had been asked months ago wheather they would like to attend, and the remainder from existing sponsors have the existing 'commercial' slots. Anyone else attending from a private company, and there to represent their coompany would, in essence, be taking up a space that would otherwise be filled by an EduGeek member, and seeing as we (EduGeek) pay for all of the conference attendees we would in fact be paying for a commercial company to attend free of charge with us picking up the bill. That is not to say we cannot get something arranged possibly, it's just we need to ensure all slots are filled by members first.
Domino Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 From the top bar on the forums tickets will go on available on ...good to see the edugeek spelling/grammatical error tradition is alive and well
Steve21 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Out of curiosity, what's the station->hotel->conference like by train, If anyone's done it before? Anywhere near, or not too bad? Steve
Ric_ Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Out of curiosity, what's the station->hotel->conference like by train, If anyone's done it before? Anywhere near, or not too bad? Steve Easy tbh... i suspect you will be able to share a lift/taxi with someone from the hotel to thte conference and the station to the hotel is under £10 by taxi (bus is even possible!)
Soulfish Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Need to find out if I can attend this. Building handover for us is that week so depending on various things happening (power, data, telephones being in place!) I may not be able to come
ZeroHour Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 From the top bar on the forums ...good to see the edugeek spelling/grammatical error tradition is alive and well Late night edits = fail.

CAM Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Done the Station <-> Hotel trip before, it's a bus ride and brief walk.
witch Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Not sure on the grammer here... Not sure about the spelling there either!!
robk Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Out of curiosity, what's the station->hotel->conference like by train, If anyone's done it before? Anywhere near, or not too bad? Steve Station to hotel is a 10 min taxi. I walked Station -> hotel last year (it was a nice day!) but wouldn`t recommend it. I also walked back to the Station as I picked the wrong bus route. Not sure about the conference venue as it's new this year...
Dos_Box Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) It's a 5 mile walk from the station to the hotel. A bus journey (number 22,23 from outside the Dog and Partridge on Friargate) is 10 mins and costs £1.40 to Black Bull lights, and a 4 min walk from there. The Dog and Partridge is a few mins walk from the train station. Edited May 9, 2011 by Dos_Box
ZeroHour Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Where's the link? I can't see any of the comments... very odd!!!! It will be a cache issue, try a ctrl+f5

elsiegee40 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 The EduGeek Preston Conference tickets are on sale now! For details and the link see here. The conference is on the 2nd of June and free! That banner at the top: Maybe a bit pedantic, but if the tickets are free, they're not on sale... they're available.
ZeroHour Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 That banner at the top: Maybe a bit pedantic, but if the tickets are free, they're not on sale... they're available. changed... sigh, I wish I could just use pseudo code instead of english 1
frosty Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Not sure about the spelling there either!! Sorry for trying to help, I won't bother next time. Also is it common practice on this forum for a moderator to respond in this way?
ZeroHour Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Sorry for trying to help, I won't bother next time. Also is it common practice on this forum for a moderator to respond in this way? I suspect that comment was missing a smiley and not in a "have a pop" way.
plexer Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Sorry for trying to help, I won't bother next time. Also is it common practice on this forum for a moderator to respond in this way? Frosty I don't really see any difference bewteen you pointing out a mistake in the original and someone pointing out one in your reply. Nothing wrong in the reply tbh and Witch is one of the resident spelling/grammar scouts Ben
