Changing head PA username

She has just got married so shes wanting to change her username which is fine with me but..

 

If I change it will email (exchange) move with it? wanting to keep old emails. Would it create a new profile when login or will it pick up old name? or is there a better way of doing it?

Could you not set up an alias within the email settings to add old and new surname. Sure you can but we dont use Exchange here so gone a little rusty.

IIRC changing the user name should be reflected in Exchange, i would set an alias to catch any email from external sourcing sent to the old address

1. Create a secondary SMTP address for the new email address and add to the user object via ADUC.

2. Once added, set new Address to be primary, leave old one in there, so user can receive emails on both, and external recipients will see her new SMTP as the new return.

3. Untick the option to update automatically update based on recipient policies in ADUC.

1. Amend the user name if this changes the email address go to step 2

2. Use Exchange Recipient policy to create a secondary email address for the PA(PA old email address), you can filter it based on the PA user name.

1. Email addresses are stamped via exchange, how they are stamped depends on version of exchange used. Depends on your current policy. So changing user may not work.

2. I wouldn't create a policy for one users.

We create a new account and forward emails through exchange to the new account. I have renamed accounts in the past but it has never worked properly.

Re-name user account, change the username in AD, re-name home folders, roaming profile ones etc...

Go into exchange and then as has been said, add a new custom SMTP address

add that as the new address

set as default and leave the old one

job done all working and they get all the old e-mail and the new and everyone's happy
