Facebook wants to install a certificate!?

I've just fired up my work PC this morning to be greeted on login to some dialog boxes asking if I want to install a certificate from Facebook. Obviously I'm not going to as this looks very fishy indeed, especially as it 'popped' up without a browser being opened. Anyone else seen or heard of this before?

Is the date on your PC right, it looks like the PC thinks the cert is invalid because of the timestamp, as now is within the span of the shown cert your system time may be wrong.

 

Also the CRL site for the cert provider may be down as according to the first message, you should be able to check by finding the CRL address in the cert and trying to go to it in a browser.

 

There were a few SSL providers that were compromised a while back so this could be a reminant but there are at least two plausabe reasons above that could be legit.

I've seen this exact thing happen with Fronter and its SSL certificates, and as Synack says, it was down to the date/time being incorrect.

Fronters SSL Certificates are a joke, I'm still suffering with them now despite raising it a few times and others on here @OverWorked did the other month, as a result were ditching it and going back to Moodle. SSL on that just worked great
