You think £680 is "minor"?

 

Plus someone has to collect and find somewhere to put all that waste, I trust you won't mind if a new landfill is sited in your area?

I think you've misread it - £680 is the average per household thrown away each year. There are roughly 23 million households in the UK. That works out at a staggering £15.6bn of waste food per year, if true.
